Do you consider South Korea the "West"?
Funny how you made the name Micro / MU while there is a major company called Micron with the stock ticker MU. Intentional I guess?
I'm guessing you haven't considered evolutionary psychology? If we didn't yearn for other people, there would be a lot less reproduction, and the human species would die.
They didn't intentionally try to attack a school, and also they gave the crew of the ship a chance to evacuate.
People in the HN comments would rather wait for Iran to get nuclear weapons and detonate them on their neighbors than use AI to do surgical strikes on Iran to take out these programs.
It looks like AI safety swings both ways - the government has deemed Anthropic unsafe for them. They asked for regulation and got it served to them.
Do you think the US military should have handicapped technology while China gets unrestricted LLM usage from their models?
It's not hatred, it's just stating facts, plus it's on topic with the original post. At least half of them live on dirt floors. Their IQs have been measured many times in numerous studies and it is always low numbers. They are highly uneducated. People like this would cripple our public services if we had no immigration laws and came here en masse. It wouldn't be like if a bunch of people from Switzerland or Japan came here. The fact sub-Saharan Africans can't upgrade their quality of living in their home country points to serious cultural or other issues with them.
Do you think immigration laws should exist? If you don't want to enforce them, why have them? If 400 million people from sub-Saharan Africa moved here and some slept in your backyard, how would you feel about that?
What about paying your mortgage, food, utilities etc.? Or is that all supposed to come from savings or inheritance?
>Energy drain because of JVM agent change
So funny, he essentially works for free for 10 years, then finally burns out because he doesn't want to put up with a bunch of annoying work? This is why you shouldn't work on open source unless you have a business strategy to get paid. Tons of stuff in life is 100x more annoying and exhausting if you aren't making any money. If he was making $1 million per year from this I doubt his energy would be drained.
It's about 10% nominal, 7% after inflation, if you count dividend reinvestment.
It gives really good caching functionality so you can have large amounts of traffic and your site can easily handle it. Plus they don't charge for egress traffic.

Why not just use a reverse proxy that caches pages into RAM, or use Cloudflare or such?
Surely you could think of something better to work on
Well think of this: if you knew there was $100 million in a dufflebag of gold at the bottom of a pond, would you learn how to put on scuba gear and retrieve it?
Perhaps you don't have compelling enough reasons to do things.
The way that works best for me is a 2-step approach:
1. Think about the ultimate goal and why you want to do it. If there isn't a compelling reason, there is no reason to do it, especially if there is short-term pain or annoyance.
2. Take at least one small action towards it per day. This often puts you in the mindset to do more things.
Do you know of any societies in the world that have a high quality of life but don’t have wealthy shareholders?
Everyone is free to make their own search engine. The consumers choose Google time and time again.
Why should shareholders have to suffer just because the Google engineers were good at their job?
Do you think it's better if all companies with competitive moats have a collapse in share price? I'm not really understanding what you're implying here.
Code is an asset of different levels of quality and importance.
Just find someone you usually enjoy being around and can ultimately start a family with, and who would be loyal. Too many people are over-thinking this stuff.

My Instagram account was disabled for alleged impersonation but I didn't do anything wrong, and my appeal failed as well. I filed appeal with taking the video of my face but it got denied after a few hours and won't let me re-appeal and says all my data will be deleted. My account is several years old. I was posting on Threads a lot and I suspect some random person reported me for impersonation...
If you always store dates as unix seconds and display them as local time on the browser, you'll almost never go wrong. Most other strategies leave too much room for ambiguity.
There's infinite potential jobs. Doing anything useful is a job.
They're not just as good unless you are willing to spend huge amounts in API credits.
