Thoughts on abandoning progress of some activities to discover new activities
I think CPS doesn't add value to the road closing. However, they (CPS) are the one need to provide care for the kids after that.
I totally agree. If someone making a generalization, chances are they may be wrong.

I'm not sure if it is free. They may have made money from the exchange rate
I think this is an unfair judgement. She may be an unethical person but we don't know if she is a bad/evil mom.
Re:Stop Interviewing with Leet Code on Thursday June 09, 2022 @11:57AM (#31682831)
I haven't thought about the bigco tech interview process like this. But now you put it out, it makes perfect sense :) I tried white board interviews about 10-12 years ago with big companies and failed miserably. Then I decided never to take a white board coding interview again which I haven't done yet. However, after working for startups and a few acquisitions later I ended up in a silicon valley big company without doing a white board coding interview. I'm not sure where I went with the story, may be to show that there are alternatives if you don't want to do white board coding.
True, you have a point. Personally, if I wasn't fairly compensated I would just leave. I can understand that there could be situations that changing jobs might not be straight forward.
I think any note taking or PKM doesn't fit everyone's need 100%. We have to adopt a system and make changes to match our needs. I too started with Zettlekasten but the system I am using now doesn't follow atomic notes at all.
I'm not sure if I agree with this approach. I would say ask for a raise without showing you have an offer from another company. If they don't then leave. I feel like it is awkward to show them that you have offer and then stay. But It could be just me.
Absolutely! Once I tried to cancel SiriusXM for an old car it was a nightmare.I had to call and wait for hours to get someone. Never signup for SiriusXM since then.
Agree! I felt like puppet missed an opportunity to be an IaaC for cloud providers/provisioning, especially with containers. From my experience, developers switch to other tools (terraform, ansible, etc) to fill the gap.

I feel like almost everyone is working on some variant of digital garden/zettlekasten/digital slip box since the pandemic started. At least that's when I found out about it.

I started reading this, while I enjoyed the aspects of the ride, I found the philosophical discussion is rather boring. I may be lack the philosophy background to really appreciate the discussion.
Re:Ask HN: Why is everyone so fake on LinkedIn? on Friday December 10, 2021 @08:45PM (#29517613)
I also deleted FB about a year ago. However I don't use LinkedIn to keep in touch with friends. I text them and call them. I feel like relationship with my friends improved after deleting FB. Also, number of friends reduced too. YMMV
True, I already have a cleaning service. They come every two weeks and clean the house. Honestly, I'm not satisfied with instacart and all the hidden fees they have/had (last time I used). What is interesting about an individual is they will learn your preferences and have more context in ones preferences as time goes.
This is really interesting. I wish if I can hire someone to clean my house and do grocery shopping for me. If you don't mind me asking, how many hours/per week she works for you?

Glad you got through this! I can only image that it is a huge relief. Good luck.

Instructions on getting started is available on the blog, https://blog.newrails.tech/
I have created a side project similar to this, at the moment It is pre alpha with limited resources. https://notebooks.newrails.tech/
Re:Ask HN: How do you get better at coding? on Monday December 04, 2017 @12:32PM (#15845622)
1. Write code for side projects 2. Read others code for similar projects in same language.

On #2, for example, if you are working on a todo list backend in python, try to find existing solutions for todo list backend in python. Then you can see what others using in their solutions and try to bring them into yours.

I understand, this approach is not applicable for everything but I have found lots of gems this way.
