Women who harass men online are winners?
Re:Income of an uber driver on Saturday July 18, 2015 @01:05PM (#9908083)
This is easy. If Uber driver does not make money, there will be less Uber drivers, so the fee will come up. There's nothing need to be complainted about.
Hillary never needs to use anything like Uber or Airbnb.

Whether sharing/contract economy is good or bad, it is a complicated issue. Why would we need a president pretending knows everything?

Re:Qihoo 360 and Go on Monday July 06, 2015 @11:27PM (#9843487)
You have definitely NO idea what you are talking about. Chinese government can directly read all your emails and private messages from a Chinese internet company without any legal requirement at all, and leaves no record.
Let's skip the word "blame". Is it a fact that sick people is the cause for being expensive? Our company also had to increase premium because a few extreme cases last year, but the company did not identify them. The employees figured out anyway.

Of course, blame the sick people could be wrong, when the sickness is not caused by the sick people, like the one in the article. However, the implicit message in the title troubles me: it is always wrong to blame the sick -- which is not true.

Re:Amazon to Remove Confederate Flag Items on Friday June 26, 2015 @01:23PM (#9786291)
This is what a crazy kid can do to this country.
It also has nothing to do with NCLB. Without NCLB, teachers were not helping gifted students anyway.

It is a stupid political thing to blame NCLB or common core. People always have tons of excuses for being lazy. Of course there are good teachers way beyond average, but most teachers are like average person need incentive to make them work harder, especially when they are protected by teacher tenure which does not exist in most fields.

"For renters like Soni Fink, 91, the rules have meant she can keep living in the apartment she moved into in 1961. A move to market rate would easily eat up her retirement income, she tells the BBC outside her two-bedroom home towards the south of Manhattan."

Why Soni Fink, 91, is entitled to live in a two-bedroom home?

So there is a Muslim town called Islamberg on U.S. soil ...
Breitbart Texas confirmed Tuesday that “an Islamic Tribunal using Sharia law” is indeed operating in Texas. But not to worry: an attorney for the tribunal assures us that participation is “voluntary,” and one of the Sharia judges, Dr. Taher El-badawi, says it’s devoted only to “non-binding dispute resolution.”

A month ago, I went into a furniture store, the salesman kept saying the store provide "financing" over and over, even I never asked him about "financing". I knew this is their way to trick stupid people, because many stupid people see a $1000 item (with a $100 payment per week) as a $100 item.
A two bedroom unit is for a family (a couple with a kid or two kids), not for a single person. Why would a minimum wage employee lives in a two bedroom unit?
Re:How good are Kim Jong-un's elite hackers? on Friday May 29, 2015 @02:30PM (#9626412)
What a silly argument to compare with car crashes. How many were killed in 9/11? So it's not a concern if 9/11 happens once every year?
Re:Sweden rejects Assange appeal to drop arrest warrant on Monday May 11, 2015 @01:29PM (#9526352)
Many comments here fail to see the difference between:

A: lack of certainty of being extradited to the US

B: the certainty of not being extradited to the US

Many comments claim A, but logically Assange needs B.

Re:Chile is introducing free higher education on Friday May 08, 2015 @07:23PM (#9514693)
Is it fair to people who do not go to college?
Re:Amazon drops gendered categories for toys on Friday May 08, 2015 @01:48PM (#9513101)
For narrow minded people here:

- existence of the gendered categories does not force you to use the gendered categories

- dropping the gender categories does prohibit others to use the gender categories

Re:Amazon drops gendered categories for toys on Friday May 08, 2015 @01:45PM (#9513082)
How could this appeals to you? If you don't like the gender categories, just DO NOT USE THEM! Why the hell would you want the categories to be removed?
Re:Why the super-rich get richer on Tuesday April 21, 2015 @11:41PM (#9418551)
Misleading as I pointed out in a previous comment ( https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9418512 )

"the super-rich" is different groups of people from year to year.

Re:The Fall and Rise of U.S. Inequality, in 2 Graphs on Tuesday April 21, 2015 @11:24PM (#9418512)
"Income growth of top 1%" is a very misleading concept. It sounds like "top 1%" is a fixed group of people, and we are talking about their income growth. Actually it is not that case at all. It is the "growth" of income from "top 1%" at different time points. Because it is about different group of people from different time points, it is misleading to call the difference as "growth". It's like last year best student A got score 100, and this year best student B got score 110, and you call it the "achievement growth of best student".

On the other hand, "income growth of bottom 99%" has the same issue, but it is less the problem, because 99% is a much more stable group of people. It's like "achievement growth of all students (except the best one)".

Funny, after read through the whole article, I saw nothing related to "entrepreneurs"....
Re:What Makes Indiana's Religious Freedom Law Different? on Wednesday April 01, 2015 @08:11AM (#9302981)
But the problem is that modern liberals think the free-market is too slow and too inefficient. That's why they want the government to force everyone to agree with them immediately.
Re:What Makes Indiana's Religious Freedom Law Different? on Monday March 30, 2015 @12:12PM (#9290484)
You understanding is wrong. Not because customers are gay. The Christian bakers do not against gay people, they just do not want to make cakes for gay wedding. It's a huge difference.

Should a Christian church be forced to host a gay wedding?

Can you force a Muslim restaurant to serve pork meat to you? If a Muslim restaurant does not allow you to bring pork meat into their restaurant, is it a discrimination against you?

If your argument is that religion cannot be allowed in any business decision, you are the one totally lost sense.

I know guys make all kinds of jokes during work, some of them are not PC. If they do / do not make those jokes with a female coworker, which one is considered as sexism?
Re:The Unappreciated Success of Charter Schools on Monday January 12, 2015 @08:23PM (#8877591)
Of course it was taken into account. Why do you think researchers would miss sth so obvious?

If you click links in the article, you will see they compared to kids who failed in the lottery. And how they address other methodological concerns.

I don't have money to buy a Porsche, but this never makes me a Porsche-hater...

I don't think financial reason alone makes you a hater of a product.

Many Word-haters don't know how good Word is, simply because they are biased for "political/religious" reasons.

It is OK to be a LaTeX-lover and Word-nolover, but you don't have to be a Word-hater if you don't use Word.
