I'm surprised this type of dark practice is now accepted in the industry. I'm sad.
Show HN: API for free wildcard domain name
Tech wise it is a simple nextjs app that uses AWS Route53 as store and state.
I’m happy to answer any question you might have.

We originally started supporting Low-code solution called Mendix. Now we support any type of web app that can be packaged as an OCI image.
You can read or try it at: https://low-ops.com
Sounds like SSPL did not yield the desired outcome.
Glad AGPL is an option now.
I was expecting to see a map or list of places/cities to find out whether it’s safe to swim. But it seems that is not part of this initiative?
Now… what could they do about this issue? Assuming this is the root cause of the failures.
Ask HN: The P in pdf is a lie?
Yesterday I received a form from a third party in .docx format. They probably use MS Windows and MS word to create it.I am on a mac. So I opened the file in Pages.app and export it to pdf. I then proceed to complete the form with Preview.app. After that i saved my pdf and emailed it back to third party.Today third party replied: the pdf file is corrupted. Can you please send .docx file?Did I do...
I personally would prefer organizations to own their hardware as in the early age of internet. It was meant to be decentralized. However in the last 2 decades centralization has prevailed.
I think it is sad because look at the CrowdStrike incident earlier this week. Or outages in AWS, cloudflare etc. These are examples why decentralization would give people/organizations power and control.
This mentality of making it “someone else’s problem” with outsourcing is a fairy tale. In the end your business is at risk. Let alone the overhead and inefficiencies.
Perhaps another analogy: if one eats out every day and never learnt how to cook a meal themselves. When the situation presents itself there is no cook around. One would probably starve or resort to simple food sources like whole fruits.
Perhaps i am a bit biased i would expense the bill to the company. A few hours of work definitely pays back the prepaid internet.
As mentioned, a decade or two ago, this was not possible or very limited to the elites. I certainly dont feel or behave like an elite. So it is “affordable” to me
Was considering to “hack” my way out of the free tier. But paying was just too easy and it’s affordable.
Sorry for boring addition/story.
My nas is a Synology. Vpn is also used so that i can continue sending timemachine backups back home when i’m traveling.
I tried to find out who the author is or how come he/she knows so much. No luck. Anyone else knows or OP care to chip in?
Aerospace goes bongers when i have native full screen. It will get confused on what to focus. My case:
Workspace 1: terminal Workspace 2: slack app Open chrome in native full screen
Now try to switch to workspace 1.
Will give it more time without native fullscreen apps for a while. Hopefully it works better.

I also think this is perhaps the top issue i have with Meets. The current UX does not consider the fact people share screen most of the time. having ability to go full screen to get 1 to 1 scale with some essential floating menus. Even more recent years when remote teams are the new normal.

If OP’s business was in fact illegal, CF should have stated it. Now it seems CF is an evil sales driving monster. A monster that grew so big it thinks it can do whatever it likes.
The sad part is that, assuming OP is not leaving out critical parts, multiple people play parts of this evil machine. I’ve seen how sales people think. But this is next level toxic culture. The second customer threats of leaving for the competition, they freak out and pull a bigger lever to destroy them. And the fact that a company allows this to happen…
I would never do business with CF. Good thing i don’t right now. Cause i will definitely take it elsewhere.
Also it’s not very clear from the original articles, what is the new total “cost of ownership” of this new refactored service. Like now they need to manage their own databases and the storage backing them. Or did i miss it?
I often see GPT/Gemini propose code solutions that refer to non-existing libraries or methods inside of these libraries. Perhaps the solution is to use specialized AI for coding is more advised.
And dont use the generic ones. However these hallucinations are still facts. The issue is that humans are also prone to hallucinations; this is perhaps the most challenging aspect to solve in AI. Everything the AI says must be vetted/fact-checked.
Back to coding with AI: i noticed AI, as described by the original author, is perhaps best integrated as an assistant. It works well when given enough context and a simple task that could otherwise take hours to complete but is now in seconds. So think of:
- given this function: …
- write test cases that covers the most common inputs.
LLM’s are still long way to go to replace programmers. But at the pace it’s going, it feels scary sometimes.
I do think AI fits #9. The fact that current AI tools are not meeting data security requirements are due to the market demands and maturity:
- price needs to be low to attract adopters.
- low price? These service providers will hoard data
- data needs to be collected for training
So i think long term, there will be more premium AI tools that “promise” to not collect your data. Perhaps self-hosted? Self hosting with AI is not attractive, at least not for consumers or small businesses.
This is special because most real world systems has a lot more dependencies. That’s when experimentation is required. Because one cannot know all relevant API’s beforehand and their behaviors. Therefore the only way is to do it and find out.
Algorithms are in essence mathematical problems, therefore is abstract and should be able to be solved in the head or use pen and paper.
Reality is that most programming problems are not algorithms but connecting and translating between systems. And these systems are like blackboxes that require exploration.
