Kanban boards, in-system cron tasks, automatic skill creation and improvement, automatic context compression, and more.

Herems is better suited as an independent agent in my opinion, and I still see OpenCode as primarily an interactive one. Sure, you can hammer OpenCode into an independent agent I'm sure, but I'd rather use a system someone else has put more hours of thought and design into.

I think like any technology it can be used for positive or negative outcomes. It certainly makes either easier.

In my case it has its own Docker container it can do as it pleases in, is more usable from a smartphone on the go, and has tooling geared toward long-lived loops, including automatic session resumption after power loss.

I don't think the licensing would allow for that. I might get away with archive.org, but I'm still looking into that.

Mine is contributing to media preservation by reverse engineering Android apps/games that were forced into obsolescence by Google's policies: https://xcjs.com/blog/2026/08/29/resurrecting-2013-with-qwen...

Author/poster here: I might be biased, but I fully agree. I believe AI has good uses in the right hands and circumstances. I try to lead by example.
This is exactly what I was hoping to see. I also returned one I ordered with the feedback that I needed physical function keys and the touchbar just wasn't cutting it for me.
Re:Ask HN: What are you working on? (September 2025) on Tuesday September 30, 2025 @08:50PM (#45433098)
Oh man, I am extraordinarily late to this.

I built a fairly sophisticated Discord bot called Musebot that integrates with both Ollama and ComfyUI: https://xcjs.com/discord

Try playing on a 43" TV. You can tell.

Did they ever get around to three-way merges? That's a must-have if you use Git as a VCS.
As far as I'm convinced, PowerShell isn't a replacement for an interactive shell, it's a Windows-native replacement for Python.

A competent stylesheet will sidestep all those issues. Admittedly, I do wish MathML were in place to be used online and in epub documents as that would make the problem much more easily solvable.
Re:Calculus Made Easy by Silvanus P. Thompson (1910) on Sunday October 29, 2023 @07:18PM (#38063841)
Only if they exist as poor conversions. Properly formatted epub documents are worth their weight in effort.

Epub documents _are_ HTML files in a zip archive - I'd argue that if a web site is a proper presentation of the source material, an epub is even better.

Additionally, PDF documents _are_ worse for any kind of document technical or otherwise. PDF documents are primarily Postscript instructions without any relation or hierarchy to the included elements. Epub documents/HTML provide semantic relationships and hints to the content.

Re:Calculus Made Easy by Silvanus P. Thompson (1910) on Sunday October 29, 2023 @07:15PM (#38063824)
I'm familiar with those tools, but they don't preserve the formatting of the source document (when PDF) and certain types of embedded resources don't transfer properly.

Some PDF documents don't contain the source text as digitized text, either. It's just a bundle of scanned images.

Re:Calculus Made Easy by Silvanus P. Thompson (1910) on Sunday October 29, 2023 @02:37PM (#38061317)
I love projects like this, but I really wish instead of converting text resources to web sites that these projects would produce epub outputs. It's great for distribution, offline reading, and scaling to different display sizes, aspect ratios, and resolutions.
The reef is being dominated by a few species without lasting power to stay through turbulent ocean activity based on the report. This may not work out of the long term, and it's too soon to tell.

This has nothing to do with what's fair - you can't "both sides" something we have direct and increasing evidence of.

This isn't caused by some Jewish space lasers, experimental military weaponry, or whatever additional conspiracy you're implying.

Re:Fast and free multi-language code editor for Android on Monday June 26, 2023 @12:12AM (#36475662)
I understand that VSCode is different, hence the "though" part of my sentence.

The remaining examples are all almost identical, though.

Re:Fast and free multi-language code editor for Android on Saturday June 24, 2023 @11:14PM (#36464852)
A lot of code editors for Android are almost identical, and it makes me think that they're all forked from the same base project, including this one.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rhmsoft.co...

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.foxdebug.a...

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rhmsoft.ed...

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.spck

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alif.ide

I've been looking for a good mobile editor for quite a minute, and they all practically have the same UI and features.

I did just discover a port of VSCode, though: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dev.environmen...

That was brought up in a lot of discussions as something the users would be willing to do, but leadership so far has not been interested in engaging with those suggestions.
The lack of regulated net neutrality is still something to be concerned about if you care about accessing sites and services at will without additional costs, limitations, or outright blocks.

The only reason a large effect hasn't been noticed is the protections offered at some state levels that enforce neutrality in practice nationwide (assuming you're in the United States).

WSL 2 is available on Windows 10 already just in case the above comment made it sound like it wasn't.

Also Windows 10 won't be EOL until October 14th, 2025.

Re:I still have an old-school cert on my HTTPS site on Wednesday January 04, 2023 @06:36PM (#34253620)
If so, that's by design in a way.

That's an indicator that your root level certs are not being maintained or updated. That risk is worse than just a few certificate authorities not being recognized.

The powering on all the time is probably due to a Wake on LAN packet or other power management feature of the network hardware of the device. Most operating systems provide a way of disabling the power management features of the network hardware, but I've never used a Synology device, so I can't tell you how to do that.

Probably 100-200 MB. The database instance takes up most of the memory. I thought it was MSSQL instead of MySQL, which would easily explain the amount.
I have an Enterprise Gsuite account with 50 TB of encrypted data for around 5 years (this was of course prior to the rebranding). I've had no complaints from Google so far.
You're right, there is an official release now! This might change a few things about my opinion.
Re:Facebook exec blames society for COVID misinformation on Monday December 13, 2021 @04:59PM (#29545237)
It also doesn't matter how much you customize your settings if they're inherently useless, minimally functional, or never there in the first place. A lot of the content control settings that Facebook loves to tout are practically useless.

Sure, I can hide every post from the "Controversial News" page, but I can't stop viewing content from third parties entirely. I'm only interested in first-party content - what my contacts create. Unfortunately that goes against the monetization model of Facebook.

I want a more closed loop social network and think that's the model we should return to, but unfortunately that's not where the profit/engagement is.

Not to mention, there's no official way to self-host Minecraft servers for Bedrock. I think that's another factor to consider when it comes to the Java edition's survival.
