Re:OpenCode 2.0 on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @07:58PM (#50097349)
My M3 Pro noticeably stuttered when I opened it :/
Is there an implication here I'm missing?
Unrelated to the submitted link -- just checked your comment history and all of your comments are AI-generated like this one. What's the motivation for this?
It depends on the university and your goals, I suppose.

Many people are surprised to learn how affordable elite colleges are if you genuinely need financial aid. I had no idea -- was pleasantly surprised when my alma mater took over 80% off of my tuition.

What would be better advice for a 17 year old?
Re:Bonsai 27B: A 27B-Class Model that runs on a phone on Tuesday July 14, 2026 @04:45PM (#48912719)
Of course not, personally almost all of my code these days is generated.

The LLM style of writing is just very distracting to read. “It unlocks X”, “Y changes the equation”, and why is there always something shifting? Makes my eyes glaze over in an otherwise interesting post.

Entire blog post seems to be AI-generated :/
Re:How to Earn a Billion Dollars on Sunday June 14, 2026 @03:09PM (#48531368)
PG missed her point to an astounding degree. I’m sort of dumbfounded at this level of misinterpretation.
Which town is this? I find it hard to believe that the mayor did not add an exception for emergency and commercial vehicles.

Scroll hijacking is the worst. Makes everything feel sluggish and unresponsive. Instantly gives me the urge to close out the tab.

This is hilarious, I need to find more blog posts like this.
Re:SpacetimeDB on Wednesday April 09, 2025 @06:40PM (#43638796)
>SpacetimeDB wasn't built in a vacuum. It's the system powers our own large-scale MMORPG BitCraft.

I checked out BitCraft and it's not released yet. Don't know if I'm being unfair here, but isn't this a bit misleading?

Re:DoppelBot: Replace Your CEO with an LLM on Tuesday February 04, 2025 @01:29PM (#42936580)
I mean, this is clearly an unserious post. This is more of a fun tech demo than anything.

Didn't know about the SmartDesign/OXO vegetable peeler, very interesting rabbit hole to go down.

Re:Our muscles will atrophy as we climb the Kardashev Scale on Monday December 16, 2024 @03:54PM (#42435311)
Yes. "Kardashev Scale" has now become a slop indicator.
Could you go more into detail on the actual process of designing, prototyping, and manufacturing? Like how would an average person, given enough motivation, do what you were able to accomplish?

Also, how did you fund this?

Re:Mourning and moving on: rituals for leaving a career on Thursday August 22, 2024 @10:45AM (#41320859)
I don’t agree. It’s obviously not a “real” wake, just something for friends to hang out and show support. And switching careers often means moving to a different city, so it would be nice to say goodbye to friends who won’t be seen for years (or forever).

I’ve been to a couple “deportation parties” for friends who couldn’t get their visas renewed, and it’s sort of the same thing. Mostly lighthearted but a slight somber undertone.

Ok, think about it like this. It's your anniversary with your partner so you decide to commission a drawing from an artist as a gift. However, when you receive it, it's clearly an AI-generated image that was printed out.

Would you still consider that "spam"?

It's definitely not the same.

Spam is trying to sell you something, e.g. an unsolicited email peddling a supplements.

Slop is low-quality content, e.g. someone taking a bunch of bird pictures off Google and posting it in a birding Facebook group.

Spam is an ad, slop is not. With AI, it is now much easier to generate slop.

Amazing, I’m obsessed with niche machines like these. The more oddly specific, the better.
Re:A review on protein languauge models on Wednesday May 15, 2024 @02:07AM (#40363600)
Honestly I wish I learned more biology in college instead of cruising through a CS degree for a generic software engineering career. Now that I’ve gained more interest in bio, the doors have closed.
Re:I Should Have Loved Biology on Monday April 22, 2024 @04:35AM (#40112443)
Wow, downvotes were harsh here.

FWIW I don’t think it’s a bad thing to repost articles that were last posted years ago. I didn’t see this article when it was posted in 2020 and 2022, and I probably wouldn’t have seen it ever if you didn’t repost it now.

You are correct, but it seems to be far easier to create new laws (e.g. to ban short-term Airbnbs) than to amend or retract current laws (e.g. strict zoning regulations).
Re:We need more calm companies on Friday April 12, 2024 @04:20PM (#40017225)
My thoughts exactly. This seems to be a general trend, too. I feel like half the blog posts I read on HN start off interesting but suddenly switch into an advertisement.
Re:JPMorgan to sell customer transaction data to advertisers on Wednesday April 03, 2024 @03:55PM (#39922249)
Because it's an editorialized title, which is explicitly against the rules. @dang will correct it (maybe).
Very interesting. I've only been using OpenAI APIs so this logit stuff is new to me.
