Re:Ask HN: Are you tired too in this AI era? on Friday October 30, 2026 @09:45AM (#50303810)
As most of other comments mentioned, I am so productive and doing five side projects at the same time but I am sad.
Re:AI promised less work. I've never worked more on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @04:25PM (#50280382)
There's another reason to go noai in your work, which is protecting your work.

It does feel like practicing being a monk not looking at it as a readily available option for most tasks, but I also believe from experience that the only way to learn is the hard way.

I don't think the author understands what 'worse' means

LLM interfaces on everything these days equate to touch screen on cars. It is definitely a useful tool, but generally speaking, that's not how you'd talk to your computer.
Re:Personal software factories are a waste of time on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @01:53AM (#50161861)
Wow, I didn't know you could be this much AI pilled. Really opened my eyes to the possibilities.

They are not random people, it's their job.

He's gonna grow up and ask you what the fuck were you thinking?

Re:Goodbye Google on Friday September 25, 2026 @02:53AM (#49841042)
When the both ends of your platform continue buying and selling you tend to not stand in the way. I personally can't believe these stupid ads sell anything at all. Since they call it a 'business model' software people don't think about it too much.
Yeah, I wonder why they taught us arithmetic when calculators invented, we would have been totally fine being vegetables
Re:Google DeepMind Releases AlphaGenome Atlas on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @01:39PM (#49613702)
I'm convinced AI labs are absolutely hallucinating with their random names. It doesn't even mean anything anymore. Can we go back to numbers?
Re:Ask HN: How do you manage skills files? on Monday September 07, 2026 @11:57AM (#49599776)
I usually use this technology called Shift+Delete
Re:De-Brainrot Vacations on Monday September 07, 2026 @11:55AM (#49599763)
Come on HN is not social media, it doesn't even show cat memes
Re:De-Brainrot Vacations on Monday September 07, 2026 @11:38AM (#49599594)
Turns out t-breaks works for social media too if you admit it's an addiction that it is. When you are in it day in and day out you don't realize how much time it's costing you without the benefits that you signed up for at the beginning.
Re:A/I shuts down โ€“ Stay human on Sunday September 06, 2026 @06:22PM (#49591527)
I see you get your news from the internet.
Re:I Feel about AI on Sunday September 06, 2026 @01:32PM (#49588812)
> Both issues (power concentration and misaligned AI) are very valid concerns

Sure, those who want you to believe this are the ones making money off of it right now in the face of the issues that exist today, so let's worry about terminators while everything goes to shit irl. That's the distraction I'm talking about.

Re:I Feel about AI on Sunday September 06, 2026 @11:32AM (#49587500)
This terminator BS is a distraction from the actual malice that AI enables. Misinformation, fake news and human sounding bots all over the web, just to name a few, are the ones that you should be afraid of, and that doesn't need any kind of superintelligence at all.
Re:LLMs as a Cognitive Virus on Sunday September 06, 2026 @06:42AM (#49585180)
> the framing comes across to me as a bit inflammatory and uncharitable

Nah, sometimes you should just come out say it. Those who get offended need to hear it more than anyone else.

> Docker has poor tooling for network level security between the containers

Aha so LLMs have better tooling for network level security, cloudboy?

Speaking of accountability, if you look around and see the tech enshitified you have no one else to blame but the biggest investors in the vicinity. Like it or not they are building your future and more often than not it's just a byproduct of whatever the hell they think they're doing, not a deliberate milestone, which makes it even worse.

Could you link some of those here?

Re:AI Can Make You Suck Faster Too on Wednesday September 02, 2026 @05:09PM (#49542601)
Wow, that painful AI aided review process, it's like you are computering with eyes closed.
Re:My hobby of building miniatures and taking pretty pictures on Tuesday September 01, 2026 @07:53AM (#49520712)
For those who were talking about taste, this is some damn fine taste, and I'm just eyeing it. It's some skill to be able to show the world what you can only see.
I can tell you this is the same way corporations generate products and call it innovation while producing zero value for customers. There's no reason to believe science and universities are immune by any means to this behavior.
Sorry to interrupt. Magic Mouse. Thank you for your attention.
They have no "brand" left with all around hostile behavior wherever they can. The only brand they currently are so proud of is being more expensive than everyone else just because. It's been always a hardware company that doesn't even build their own hardware. Anyone can do that. Call up your investors.
is this a manufactured demand meme
Re:Who Are We Now? on Sunday August 30, 2026 @01:53PM (#49501043)
I've come to believe that "agentic programming" is modeled after how a typical CEO treat the employees below them and now they are turning it into a programming paradigm. They're even trying to apply the same patterns of optimization, e.g. if you modularize your code, you can run more agents in parallel! Yay.
