The Navajo lost their water rights this week to a 5:4 supreme court decision over turning a lower court. I wonder who paid for that. How much does it cost to over turn a century old treaty?
Re:Look, no hands Exploring data with your eyes (2022) on Friday June 23, 2023 @07:11AM (#36445289)
The matrix movie has people "jacked" into a kind of computer world through their brainstem but realistically the system would also have to have connections to the eyes which have the highest bandwidth of the system. Replacing reality with computers this way does not preclude it from being an interesting film but the love scenes would be different. Wouldn't the people in zion have to mount web cams or something on those sockets? People would fight over having the best kind of 300 year old web cams. Oh sure perhaps VR goggles would work well enough that you don't need your eye's gouged out. But in 10 years how will your eye's know what to focus on? Would your 20/20 vision last this way from cradle to grave?

Of all senses to rely on sight can be the most misleading though. Seeing is believing but seeing is deceiving. Think back to a time when you were totally sold on something by a commercial on TV or on youtube. It was so cool, it did exactly what I want it to do. This retail therapy is what I need, man! Then after you get it, its just a stupid gimmick or it helps nothing. The eye's brought you there. Cooking tools or ingredients are a good example. You can't taste test the television ads. Seeing fancy cars and mansions looks like a pretty good motivation for investing in a hit meme like crypto. But sometimes now and then that doesn't work out.

Eyes are good to have. I sometimes use them when driving my car. They are useful for tracking street names for my cerebral navigation system [CNS].

I think I like my ears better though. They are more reliable for me. And the nose is great. I don't think I'll need a corrective nose for a long time. I've worn corrective lenses for over 3 decades.

Re:What Is a 'Dumb Phone' on Friday June 23, 2023 @06:38AM (#36445047)
I like my flip phone in that it has basically what I need. I love having a pocket watch with timer at all times. The notes thing is great for remembering people's names by writing them down. I'm less likely to text something I'll regret because it is so hard to text. It truely is a dumb phone even though it has a browser because they didn't debounce most of the switches. The camera is pretty good too. The google app always takes a picture when I open it.
You'll have to outbid the payments the tech companies have on the senators they own. You need more money than Vangaurd and Blackrock's A.L.A.D.D.I.N

Just to warn, social engineering attacks can get sims transfered without your involvement. There were some stories about it here somewhere a very long time ago.

Two factor authetication is dumb. It invites poor disipline with reusing passwords and with 500 pound gorilla corps, losing your second factor is losing your account permanently.
It is suprising what you can do with hundreds of lawyers and several congressmen.
All your face paper will be gone.
Want to make a bet, Neolibs and cons? I bet you a million face papers you are wrong.
How do we know this article isn't just ChatGPT word salad?
I was hoping there was some mention of the international zombie apocalpyse alert level.

I just had a 45 minute conversation with ChatGPT discussing the state of the art of LENR fusion techniques. It was a pleasant experience, non toxic, and the machine could even be reasoned with. I got some new ideas that should forward the concept of inexpensive energy.

Small notebook with a memorized cypher.
Lithium-6 is not as cheap as coal per energy delivered after all is said and done.
