There's a chance you may have experienced some jankiness with our site. The DDoS has been mitigated and all should be good again. It's Sunday for cripe's sake!Name was post it on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/namedotcom.
I did choose PHP because lots of servers support the language, so more people will can use the script.
Hi dosh, I don't think that HN is build or is inspired in Reddit code/design. Both of them are open source, but Reddit is build in Python and HN in Lisp.
I'm going to check out. Thanks!

Hi, well as the title says, I'm programming a HN clone. I choose PHP because is more simple to find a hosting which provides us PHP.And I have some questions, the first is about HN comments, in its structure a comment is an item. I'm using MySQL, and my table 'items' can store comments too. My question is: HN has a limit deep in comments? Because is complicate get comments using...
Ohh, congratulations! your site is so great. I hope you add your new features.
Hello again, excuse me, is rssident.com yours?
Thanks for reply! I did not know that extension, it's great, but my idea is build a website, maybe later I will do an extension for explorers or an executable for Windows/Unix.
That's an nice website! Thanks for sharing, when I finish mine I'm going to post it here.
First of all thanks for reply, and I'm subscribed in a lot of RSS feeds to be updated in my favorite topics. Neddick sounds so good, I'm building something like that, by reading RSS and by building content about entries posted in them.
It's perfect, I love RSS too. My idea is create a simple app to manipulate feeds, so you can register with an email, and add your favorite websites. I'm going to think about focus on a niche or categories. Thanks for reply.

Hi,I'm trying to build a website which its contents is based on RSS, create profiles and categories that organize the information. Also allow users to create their own static profiles and add their websites too.I don't know if it's better focus on a simple category or niche, for example: bitcoins, or it's better try to add every kind of information. What do you think about it?Thanks in advance.
Yes, I think that too, but in this case I will not use this as public domain but as internal support.

It looks good, I'll try it, thanks for sharing.
That's good idea too, well I'm building a clone of HN but in PHP language, it will be open-source.
I like sports and photography, but as samweinberg said, I think image-based sites need others functionalities. I need to see more offers, to select the best one.

I have been using Debian for a long time, and now a days I also use Porteus Linux from my USB.
Well you both have been recommended Twig, I'm going to check it. Thanks a lot.
Yes I can see Haanga hasn't been touched, but it still using in Menéame. I'm going to check Twig too, thanks.

Well I'm building an application in PHP without a framework, and I found out Haanga (haanga.org).It is a template engine for PHP, like Django, its cache system is pretty good and Menéame (meneame.net, which has a lot of traffic) has been using for a long time.I think that using Haanga may help me to be more organized. What do you think? Thanks in advance.
I have seen websites which use HN's source code, but my idea is develop a similar application but in PHP.
Because a lot of hostings support it, and so, more people will can use it.
I think you are right, if someone thinks I'm wrong, I'll do it different, after all it will be open source.
