Good source for some of the more interesting moments for the current WC. What do you plan to focus on post the tournament?

Yahoo Finance is a good option, also have an API.
It is right, example:
US$100 "company", with one investor owning 20% (US$20)
New round of US$50 and the investor uses pro-rata right of 20% . He takes US$50 * 0.2 = US$10 out of the round. Now owns US$30 worth of equity in the US$150 valued company = 20%
Obviously valuations, various investors, various rounds, convertibles, etc. can complicate matters.
Lastly an investor could also only take part of his 20% right and would then get partially diluted.
Great points, but i guess even startup ideas you're passionate about will need to have some (financial) substance/potential to be able to sustain you. So it'll at least need a balance.
As long as the loan transforms in a gift in case of no success it takes the danger out of the loan (from the entrepreneur's side of things)...
Who can/should spearhead this?
Hear, hear, couldn't agree more.

Extensive write-up Samir, which was your favourite?
iOS makes sense as a launch platform IMHO, still the number one with respect to quality of market you reach vs. Android
Would love the app for Berlin :)
Piotr, how would this hackathon have panned out in case you wouldnt have won? (which was the case for the other 95% of the participants ;)) Or worded differently: would it have been worth it if you wouldnt have won?

Cool concept, when do you expect to expand the service to include further stocks?
Suggested question: Business Model canvas (etc.) are about validating, learning, improving. Is he planning any improvements to the BMC, based on learnings in the past years?

Did it get you contacts that benefitted you at a later stage?
I’ve had similar experiences at two SW’s I attended: great excitement during the event, great people, etc. Yet the follow-up of actually going for it seems to be a different thing .
I’ve had a discussion on the topic with Nick Stevens on the topic (actual # of startups being launched out of SW’s), who highlighted the mission of SW: “Startup Weekend is a global network of passionate leaders and entrepreneurs on a mission to inspire, educate, and empower individuals, teams and communities.” They seem to succeed very well at that mission in any case!

Honerable mention for Betalist :)
Cool, seems to work pretty well there. Hope the Dutch version will be as successful!
