3) you contribute to loss of biodiversity through increased land use for intensive farming (monoculture, high chemical use)
4) co2 balance of those 'biofuels' is way worse than fuels refined from extracted fossil fuels
5) additional supply of these fuels lowers fuel prices thereby slowing shift to renewable energy sources (i.e. renewable electricity)
6) simply paying farmers for fallow fields is a much simpler solution to the problem
Because they are a gutted, disempowered US-regulator. Wrecked by 4 years of Trump and countless other presidents before them.
Possibly there is also not the political will to ramp up the regulatory speed and power although I still have hope that Biden will be able to change that at least a bit.
As common as it is wrong.
Why is the constant screaming at me? Why is the fact that it's a constant important enough to be encoded in the styling of the letters, but not important enough to be encoded in the name. Why isn't the IDE or the compiler keeping track of the constantness of the variable and reminding me to not do the wrong thing? If they can and are, why am I not trusting them?
And if they can't, why am I writing in a language that doesn't even have JavaScript levels of a type system?
You just don't frequent the same 'socioculutal strata' ;)
Windows devs are known to use macbook pros - really tells you all you need to know.
Yeah, this never worked well in windows (I remember switching 'show window content while moving' to 'off' whenever 'on' became the default).
Taskbar 'autohide' is still a clusterfuck (I don't remember a version of Windows, where this feature didn't have at least visual bugs). New centered taskbar in Windows 11 is just bad usability (only smart thing about start button was, that it was in a corner of a screen thereby making it easy to hit with a rough mouse movement).
Yeah, that trending and content suggestion algorithmic feed idea seems to be at the heart of the problem. Maybe making that illegal would go a long way.
Unsafe recycling of electronic equipment mainly lead-adic batteries.
The emissions of the top 10% richest people globally where 17.60 tCO2 while the bottom poorest 50% globally emitted 1.57 tCO2 (2015).
Or in absolute numbers, the top 10% emitted 3x the amount of the whole bottom 50%.
And that is without taking historic emmisions into consideration.
What we don't have time for is doing nothing (ie continuing the destruction of our habitat). The 1.5° C goal is already getting out of reach.

As in impossible to influence via regulation. Once you realize that proper regulation is a good thing and a must in a functioning society, you realize something that can not be regulated can't be allowed to exist as it will undermine said society.
You can actually, with Playstation Now or whatever Sony's streaming service is called.
Why don't they use asymmetric keys for everything?

TLDR:
You can't tell by looking (if your rule holds for all or only a small set of numbers).
You will need a maths degree for actually telling.
No we don't.
We have to reduce comsumption, and not just a bit but by a lot.
It's true tho. On a world with limited resources and limits to the amount of pollution our planet can deal with, less people means a longer runway.
Yeah, and that makes sense if you know neither Myers nor Briggs was a psychologist.
Can't have that in Germany as labour laws require a 30 minutes break if working more than 6 hours and an extra 15 minutes if working more than 9 hours (including the 30 minutes break.
So the best your company could do would be 30 minutes instead of 42.
Yes, i think there is many Einsteins and Mendels that weren't rediscovered after their time.
Some because their ideas were wrong, but some also with innovative and correct ideas, many of which were reinvented and some probably even never reinvented and lost to obscurity.
I think attacks like this show, that an intervention is very much needed.
And if it is to disrupt the technology industry big time, that might just be needed as well.
I mean you wouldn't have spared the tobacco industry, just because making them liable for lung cancer means disrupting the industry.
