Re:Another team building Skynet, in the name of Jarvis? on Monday November 25, 2024 @10:52PM (#42242439)
They say it’s Jarvis, but all I see is a Chrome extension and an app that listens to you. Didn’t we already solve this with dictation tools? How is this different from reinventing Clippy with more buzzwords?

Not saying it’s a bad idea, just wondering if we need more teams claiming they’re solving personalization when they’re really just doing better tracking.

Newcomers are also different. Some are actually experienced vs some are real newbies.

I’m wondering how could learn from games, making the content also adaptive to user levels/experiences.

It’s prob also the key agenda in education.

But at this stage, I feel Shopify has better chance than eBay on branding... The long term value and potential scaling effect is still the mainstream before we live under universal basic income era.

eBay has its chance. It should help build the tool for the community to provide customized service easier and cheaper.

Marketplace is also based on the abundance and quality of contents (merchandise). Scale effect is good at the globalization period but not sure for the next era.

Ask HN: Business or non-profit approach? Please advise

I'm always concerned about all those terms and conditions, privacy policies, user agreements that we consent but never read. The problem nested is bigger than it appears. People are trying to build legal term marketplace, or protesting policy changes. But both approaches are not appealing enough to become mainstream. With some thought invested in this topic, I've came up with a general plot...

Has anyone thought about adopting the permission management on phones to solve such kind of issues?

Use NLP to modularize the T&Cs and create some sort of authorization system to manage consents to various setups so we don't need to do it over and over. Plus, it could be an unique identification system!

Just be sure to decentralize it.
