Re:Anthropic is renaming their Max plans on Friday October 30, 2026 @06:10PM (#50310806)
Nope, it's a rename. The old name was inaccurate for weekly limits

Not a downgrade

It's actually an upgrade because 5h limits are gone. It's objectively better value

not really, many people could confidently predict 2 years ago that AI was going to be great at coding

I don't see any evidence that it can build a business

how do i bet against that?
Re:DeepSeek just open-sourced its inference engine on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @06:40AM (#50164143)
to be honest anything built into my phone, car, ships with mac is a hobby

what's important is where big enterprise point their budgets. and there we agree, it's not to chinese models (as hopeful as I am that we can avoid a duopoly and great local models)

Re:Claude Haiku 5.5 on Thursday October 08, 2026 @04:51AM (#50003416)
they don't need to, companies smooth out costs all the time. cost of goods sold isn't a great way to price software products
to me the last part if the most important part. product management hasn't been automated at all, and is more important than ever. you can't just keep adding features to make a great product
Re:Claude Code now reads AGENTS.md if there is no Claude.md on Friday September 18, 2026 @06:18PM (#49761004)
depends what you're doing. if you've got a specialized agent deployed in prod, of course your evals and prompts will be targeted towards 1 specific version of a model.

on the other hand if it's just a local coding/"use my computer" agent, i highly doubt the effort in maintaining different prompts is worth any gain in performance

to be fair until we know what associate member means, there might not be any contradiction to the UK position
you might be overstating the problem. for sure there's overreliance on China which is decreasing slightly (1-3% from what I remember), but Australian exports are still increasing because of the US, India, Japan and many others

structural engineers?
the only way they never go public is if they die quickly

edit: which I doubt btw. investors are going to want to dump the bags very soon

Re:Show HN: Opentracker, an open source Pivotal Tracker on Saturday September 12, 2026 @04:32PM (#49676886)
I worked with Pivotal Labs in 2020. TDD, pairing, and Tracker open all day. I kept using Tracker after the engagement ended on personal projects, until Broadcom shut it down in April 2025.

So I rebuilt the board I was used to. Icebox, backlog, current iteration, done. Stories are 1, 2, 4 or 8 points, iterations fill to your velocity, and a story goes started, finished, delivered, then accepted or rejected.

I love the simple opinionated board and tried to recreate it. Have been using it for a year and thought why not open source it.

Hosting isn't ideal for open source, but it's my cheap/free stack. Cloudflare Workers + D1, free tier is enough. All MIT, hosted at tracker.usero.io if you don't want to deploy anything.

There's an MCP server too, that's how I point Claude Code at it.

> The mere presense of a gun shouldn't involve calling the cops

Unless it's against the terms of service of the private corporation

have you talked to cashiers? many prefer the new ones. who are you protecting?
> What I don’t get is why Waymo allows unaccompanied juvenile riders at all?

Why not? They can already take an uber. It's questionable which is safer

> What if Waymo thought the guns were real, called the cops, and the cops screwed up and shot one of the kids?

See this is only an issue because that is a plausible situation. The actual problem is on the police/cultural side, not the waymo side. No one should even have to think about this when calling the cops. And I can't think of 1 other western society where they do

Re:Pandas Should Go Extinct on Friday September 11, 2026 @11:34PM (#49668475)
Makes sense, especially with AI coding tools the rewrite and familiarity arguments hold less water. Similar for the rustify everything crazy.

The problem is, orgs who see themselves as big data orgs want to act that way, even if they're medium data. "But we'll need it when we grow", "we need to know the state of the art tools"

Feel free to drop feedback here: https://usero.io/f/0dq810da (and yes this form was created using the MCP)

Show HN: Usero MCP, give your coding agent your user feedback

https://usero.io/docs/mcp

Usero is a feedback tool: widget, email, Slack and app reviews into one clustered inbox. I recently put an MCP server in front of it at https://usero.io/mcp, which has been really useful in my own workflow.To-date there are 36 tools (signup, clients, feedback, clusters, forms and theming, user tests, AI test runs). E.g. `list_clusters` returns clusters biggest first with up to three verbatim...

how much parallelism are you writing in your frontends?
Re:Shopify moves back to Native from React Native on Thursday September 10, 2026 @08:30PM (#49652013)
I've been out of the app world for ages, always liked kotlin. Can you speak more about multiplatform?
Re:Navier-Stokes – Tristan Buckmaster [pdf] on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @01:23AM (#49621419)
i've seen no sign of that
yeah but look how much overhead this is

Is that in any way realistic? 120 answers/day??

Re:Muse: Meta's personal AI agent, features and capabilities on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @11:21PM (#49620479)
ah what a throwback.. I thought I was so efficient copy pasting all day long
Re:Muse: Meta's personal AI agent, features and capabilities on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @11:20PM (#49620473)
I agree, and stay away from meta generally in life wherever possible

That said, I've got more time for projects this week so flew through my Claude max plan. Now I'm trying muse spark 1.3 with opencode which is free with pretty generous usage allowance. First time I've been impressed by meta's AI products. It feels not far below opus 4.8ish

> One of my coworkers made a completely static portfolio website with a single page and used react.

People love hating on react, but I mean this is pretty common. Raw is fine, but even in a "static" thing, you'll eventually go "ok now I want to reuse some text here.." Or have some common elements with x things shared. So I'm gonna have to write some hacky imperative JS? Or messy CSS? And what starts as static very easily becomes slightly dynamic. I hate overengineering, so if React were hard to setup or deploy I'd agree (eg Kube), but the cost-benefit of React makes it worth it in most cases for me

there's nothing holy about eating real animals (unless you're religious)

i'm no vegan, but if identical lab-grown alternatives are available at near same cost without the hormones, antibiotics, emissions, I'll take it

> there's little to no difference in quality between the two

Lab grown can be way better quality. To me it was a no-brainer considering the ethical concerns, then add in the cost difference. The only argument I've heard for natural is "I like the imperfections". Sounds like brainwashing to me. They're chemically identical

The mining industry should die
