>And if it is true, why is that?

Because they already have 100+ games in Steam because of the early head start.

> If Valve isn’t good, you can’t just say people won’t go for another better option “just because”.

Never said that, I said people don't want the hassle of running 2 game launcher apps with fragmented libraries.

PC Gamers literally just don't want to use a second launcher so it doesn't matter what you offer them. See how Epic offered games for free and it still didn't matter.
Is this a new simulation or just https://ntsc.rs/ in a wrapper?

Calling it “tailworm” feels like alarmism to promote their find more.

Would only show worm behavior if machines within the tailnet had the right settings and also were members of other tailnets with those settings but then it would require someone in that tailnet to have another tailnet with the right settings…

It’s far fetched.

Train robots feels like the academia justification excuse when we really know the value of this will be entertainment.
Really feels the hinge is a vanity project from the design team, similar to using heavy curved glass on the Vision Pro.

One too complex with tolerances so tight manufacturing inconsistency or dirt can be catastrophic the other too heavy for purpose and the translucency unneeded on an enclosed vr headset. But if you talk to product design people both are things that look great on a resume.

They did the same with literally everyone's data. Is it supposed to matter more because a "Stanford professor's" work was included?
Re:A farewell to Arc browser on Friday October 23, 2026 @01:41PM (#50212692)
It honestly reads like the company is shutting down, not "we're focusing on this other browser", really poorly done messaging.
Re:A farewell to Arc browser on Thursday October 22, 2026 @03:40PM (#50200031)
The pivot from one new browser to another new ai browser was insanely bad optics and aura loss.
Every time you access your bank on different devices normalizes it so that visiting a typo domain would show the dialog and many would just click through.

Airplay can just extend the screen as a second monitor on MacOS
Re:Ofcom Concedes Defeat in the 4chan Case on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @04:03PM (#50171885)
Why would they block it if they hope to get money from it.
Re:Apple broke an essential presentation feature of iPads on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @03:44PM (#50171642)
The endless struggle of professional iPad users trying to get their hardware to act like something it insists it is not.

Ultimately the team behind it doesn't want to relinquish control to the user, so we're stuck in this world where it can never truly by a professional tool because every step of the way there is something like this where on a real computer its just an extra screen and you put on what you want on it and the situation where content of the other screen gets suddenly shown can't happen. But the iPad has to pretend screens don't exist and only apps do.

I’d argue they’re not really in tech.
Re:Apple HomeView on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @10:38PM (#50081722)
Looks so awkward in the ad with the cable out the back going into the table.

Really feels like this thing was designed to be a "robot" as in it rotates to face you etc, but they realized no one was gonna pay $1K for it so ditched that part.

Re:Keyboard differences between Windows and Macs on Monday October 12, 2026 @07:38AM (#50054894)
The fact that most terminals can’t use the system wide copy shortcut because ctrl+c cancels the running task.

“Other than copy and paste”

Is like saying “other than the most used shortcuts ever”

Feels much better on MacOS where you have ctrl for things within the terminal and cmd for things at an OS/window level.

Re:Doory – Open-Source Canva on Monday October 12, 2026 @07:35AM (#50054866)
Just making an observation that people vibe coding these projects don’t want to contribute to shared efforts, they want to be the guy who did the thing.
Use a device that’s mass produced enough it can’t be targeted e.g a MacBook, then keep it airgapped and don’t do normal computing on it.
Can see why hardware wallets seemed a good idea at the time but history has shown this is a terrible way to self custody. Compromised devices aside, the KYC data leaks have put people in danger too.
Re:Doory – Open-Source Canva on Monday October 12, 2026 @05:16AM (#50053588)
But if it was just made with one prompt if you considered that feature important why would you use this as a base and not just start your own project for the clout.

If something was easy for someone to spin up there's little reason to build on their work rather than just make your own thing you fully control.

Society is the people there not taxes and stores. They’re nowhere near the actual people.
Re:Keyboard differences between Windows and Macs on Friday October 09, 2026 @08:58AM (#50019840)
I agree about fn, when I say 4 I mean shift, alt, ctrl, cmd.
Re:Keyboard differences between Windows and Macs on Friday October 09, 2026 @07:40AM (#50019095)
Really wish windows and Linux had the same 4 modifier system as Mac, always feels like ctrl is overloaded on Linux and alt wrongly used as a ctrl key in weird scenarios on windows (alt+F4)
Re:Keyboard differences between Windows and Macs on Friday October 09, 2026 @07:36AM (#50019061)
Prefer the positioning of cmd so much I flash all my keyboards firmwares on my windows and Linux machines to have ctrl beside space and super in the far corner.

Genuinely find it better ergonomically because it’s closer to where all the keys it’s pressed with are.

Far corner ctrl makes me use my pinky and splay my hand for it while beside space ctrl feels more natural for a thumb

Not a single thing you listed is actually living in a society.
Re:Living off-grid: Hundred Rabbits on Thursday October 08, 2026 @10:55AM (#50006569)
Easy to talk like that when you don't have to live in the system.
Re:Berthd on Tuesday October 06, 2026 @07:20PM (#49985577)
Really just worth learning SSH and Tmux instead of building your workflow against something that's trying to replace them
It’s obviously all intentional and should be reason enough to not use a platform.
Yeah but it’s not very good, crashes often and has been acquired by a company pushing some online subscription
Re:Pi.dev: You Said No MCP on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @10:37AM (#49909625)
Important to remember most ai influencers are a joke and spewing nonsense, claiming things are “over” is one of the only reliable and viable ways to for a person not at OpenAI/anthropic to actually make money in this wave.
