In the latest Stratechery article, Ben says "I’ve created a bunch of different apps to manage my house and sports viewing," and I instantly felt FOMO. I have no idea what his apps could be doing, but I was just wondering what time saving / efficiency capturing ideas are out there that I might be missing out on.I can start with a few that I can think of, but would love to hear more:I recently...
This response is half a decade old. I use FSD every day and it drives much much safer than I would. I've owned my Tesla for less than 2 years and it improves further with every update.
Socrates was certainly a pioneer of conveying information efficiently
The appeal is that it will drive you itself.
It’s a great question. It’s a rational line of thought. However, the market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent (if you were planning to go the opposite way).
How about: just eat whole foods
Saying debt is crap is kind of a bold statement considering it has worked for thousands of years and most debt arrangements are entered into voluntarily
Well in reality it’s not that big of a mistake because he probably would have sold these shares when he sold the first 62.5%……which I assume was not recently
I am not a lawyer. If you are, then I will consider this response null and void… but if you’re not, just go to your LLM du jour and ask it why this case might have ground. If it is even 1% convincing then imagine what sort of case a real attorney could come up. Then multiply the odds of winning against a billion dollars. A >0.01% chance EV would probably catalyze at least one of these firms.
Probably sold them a long time ago.
Plethora of reasons, but right to title is not as black and white as anyone assumes. There is no govt ledger that keeps track of who owns what, everything is always subject to interpretation. If you own a home, you likely had to purchase title insurance. If you don’t know what that’s for, look it up. It will give you the same answer to this question.
Just commented the same thing and agree 100%.
You should sell your right to litigate this. There are hundreds of firms that would pay you to take this on. Would involve near zero effort for you and would also check the box of being “about the principle”.
If tech companies are being held responsible for our feelings (Meta’s constant fines and legal trouble) then this seems much more like a legal CYA than Google trying to present itself as a friend.
All it takes is one Harrison Bergeron…
Here’s a useful rule of thumb: if they’re spending all their time making YouTube videos they’re not running a successful hedge fund.
I’d really like to use it as an extended monitor for work. The problem with previous versions has been inability for me to see my own keyboard or even inability to easily mirror laptop screens. This looks like it could do that.
…and massive subsidies for the developers at the federal level…
America is committing suicide because funding for extracurriculars is being pulled? Seems dramatic…
Also, if you want to talk about dismantling democracy, how about the dismantling of the constitution that occurred on Pres. Biden’s watch during COVID? Freedom of assembly, freedom of speech, no unreasonable searches and seizures, etc.
Agree with this. Natural gas is effectively free there. Maybe it’s the fiber connectivity that prevents them from being built? I genuinely don’t know.
New Gen data centers are closed loop and don’t use water at nearly the same rate as previous generations
1. Cheap natural resource
2. Fiber connectivity
3. Low population density
4. Favorable regulatory environment
Depending on how far north you mean, you lose all or all but one of the above.
Twins is a different league entirely. Hats off
I agree with this. Especially as you gain experience and your work becomes less day to day grunt work and more high level strategic thinking, having constraints on time actually has been beneficial for me.
Taking work problems into other spheres of my life, especially parenting, gives me distance and a new lens to view them through.
I like it. Great points made.
I would only add that if increasing general family cohesion is one of your goals, I think having lots of kids accomplishes that. Having a large family and multiple automatic life long best friends brings me so much joy.
Is this not the direct result of consumers being too lazy to price match and price discover? Amazon still has the ability to sort price: low to high. You also still have the ability to ask your friends and family what air fryer they purchased. If the average consumer just implicitly trusts Amazon such that they buy whatever shows up first, that’s not Amazon’s fault, that’s the consumer’s fault.
I am worried that we have become so bubble wrapped that even our shopping will need to be done by regulators.
Unless there is a moral hazard to distributing wealth evenly!
I immediately googled “Uzbek population centers in United States”
