Have I missed something, how do we know she eats meat?
I’m building an image sharing site (just for me and a couple of friends) that tries to emulate the old days of Flickr and Instagram. Chronological feed, no recommendation algorithm, no reels, no ads, etc. Knowing that it’ll never be open to registration or “real” users takes all the pressure and expectation away and it’s just been fun to work on.
A nice nostalgia hit. The "Bondi blue" iMac was my first workplace computer, for a local council. I had Photohop, Illustrator and QuarkXPress, making websites, banner graphics(!), print artwork, all kinds of things. Even then, I do remember the iMac being painfully slow.

An icon is kind of “visual shorthand”: a way to leverage peripheral vision and pre-attentive processing so a user can understand a control's purpose in milliseconds.
The user won't learn a UI from icons alone, but once learned, distinct icons speed up recall massively. The problem with the modern trend of hyper-homogenised, uniform icons is that they destroy this advantage. When every icon has the exact same stroke weight, color, and geometric bounding box, they blur into a useless mush.
He’s the reason Mogwai have a track called “Ritchie Sacramento”

Try searching Reddit, I just found some lists. I’ve given up and instead just don’t allow things on my network. My “smart” TV begs me to see the network but I just use a Roku instead. I fear it’s come to this where we have to circumvent our own devices desperate need for connectivity.

Interesting!
>Claude shows a striking “spiritual bliss” attractor state in self-interactions. When conversing with other Claude instances in both open-ended and structured environments, Claude gravitated to profuse gratitude and increasingly abstract and joyous spiritual or meditative expressions.

The Kiel Institute for the World Economy, a research group based in Germany that tracks support from foreign governments toward Ukraine, estimates that the U.S. has allocated about $119 billion. The reason the estimate is different from U.S. government data, the institute explains, is because it only includes direct aid to Ukraine -- not money appropriated in the bills that relate to Ukraine but are not bilateral, such restocking U.S. weapon stockpiles or aiding refugees.
By comparison, Kiel found European nations have all together allocated around $138 billion to Ukraine.

I recall getting a DC tour of LON3 and being totally blown away by it all as a 20-something web dev. Good times.
Is there a viable way for me to make every site load like this (iOS)? And optimally toggle back to the “full site” if I want to.
Add to that: Floating Points, Rival Consoles, Brian Eno…

I find the EFF site perfectly readable. Not sure what you’re experiencing but it looks fine to me.
I think it's fair to say that my 25+ year career in design started with DPaint on an Amiga, and I'd be somewhere very different today without it.
