Man, that makes coding tools, says you should learn to code lolz. I don't disagree. Just worth noting.

Hey thanks for checking out the project. If you have any questions feel few to ask. Its ~2.30am where I am. So you might be waiting 8 hours. Sorry.

Sorry if the title is clickbait, I mean if I said `axial shake generator` or whatever would just fall to the back pages of HN. So yeah I'm sure this description will age well. "People need to use accurate titles not vague ones" etc.
Hi guys. This is my first Python library, and I’d love any feedback. I’ve been using it in my R&D work, and it’s been really useful.

It’s aimed at computational physics, so if you just want general-purpose unit handling, I’d still recommend Pint.

Real.
Thank you, Kevin, for sharing this, and thank you for your insights, Edward. As a young man without a father anymore, it's always a pleasure learning about people's life experiences to help me be my best self without years of trial and error

Re:Show HN: A Coilgun I Built When I Was 16 on Friday May 09, 2025 @03:41AM (#43934633)
For the coil and yoke, I definitely used the TLAR method (though I did run it through FEMM to see if it would work). For voltage, I just went with the biggest supply I had, and for timing, I simply used a program that estimated the extra time needed after the projectile passed the photo-gate.

Keep in mind, I wasn’t very experienced at the time. If I were doing it now, I’d use a random search algorithm to find a coil design that generates the highest force while still switching quickly. For the power supply, I’d use a capacitor bank, and probably stick with similar timing — or possibly use a dedicated capacitor for each stage, charging each differently to deliver longer or shorter pulses as needed
