I hate to add another nail to the name coffin, but I instantly thought this was regarding the ruby unicorn web server. I continued to think this until I came back to the comments to verify.
Re:Show HN: Hosted IRC for Teams (my first startup) on Sunday April 21, 2013 @12:08PM (#5585267)
Your pricing is what failed it for me. I can get a 512MB VPS from DigitalOcean for $5/month.

I love this idea, though. I just feel that your approach of giving a full VPS is a bad idea. People who want a full VPS will buy a full VPS for much cheaper than the 20GBP you're offering it for.

What you need to do is multi-tenant your hosts, and isolate them from each other. Then you'll get costs savings that you can pass on to your customer; which will put you in line competitively with the likes of HipChat and Campfire.

Great idea, can't wait to see what comes of it!

Tell that to the nearly 25% drop it is currently experiencing.

I firmly believe that art is subjective. However, I also think that art should be a communication of a thought to others through a non-standard medium.

The only thing that was communicated during this process was a loud, unsurprised sigh when nothing came to fruition, as many had predicted.

Remember folks, There is no better way to over power a trickle of doubt than a flood of naked truth.

Alright, so I wanted to see how this played out. So I paid to see if my number was in the "database". I got to the checkout, paid, and dead ended.

No return link, no anything. No instructions on the site how to continue.

So, for anyone else wondering, that's what happens when you search.

I'm going to murder your family.

Don't worry, I'm probably just provoking a response from you, but to be sure, you can send me $1,000 and I promise I won't murder you, if I was going to.

Ask HN: Where/when to start looking for seed?

I have an idea that I am confident would be popular enough to warrant exploring it further. This project would require some development capital (20-30k is sufficient) for the term of project. As this is the first project I've ever even thought of looking for outside funding for, I'm stuck at a point where I'm not sure what to do next!YC is unfortunately out for me, as I'm unable to move. What are...

We're just starting out, and would really like input from the HN community, so please feel free to ask questions or post comments. We'll try and answer them all!

If you're just in the testing phase, you can use the coupon 'HACKERNEWS' for 25% off your first month.

If you represent an open source project that could use or are using Redis, let us know! We would love to sponsor a few of the awesome projects we've seen developed with Redis.

I really hate to play the douchebag card here, but the US DOES have several very good reasons to think it's the center of the tech world. Just don't make me start naming names...
Took me a second cup of coffee to detect the sarcasm. I like you.
How do I accomplish that when they're a 50% partner? I'd really like not to go the legal route, but it seems this is the only actually viable option.

Ask HN: When to give up on a (non-performing) partner/co-founder?

I initially started work with another person on a SaaS hosting company. This person moved to my town to work with me for 4 months, before leaving out of the country. When they left out of the country, they hadn't contributed anything to the production version of our site, except a minimal site design, which was completed in the first month. There was minor things checked into Github, but nothing...

Re:Any HN readers have ideas for improving gun safety? on Thursday January 24, 2013 @01:02AM (#5107790)
Require mental health screenings for gun owners which are required to be renewed at some medically relevant and adequate frequency.

If we require basic health checks to operate heavy machinery, or drive a car. Why don't we require them for owning a gun?

Context?
I hate to be a scrooge, but Bootstrap already supports multi-colored progress bars:

Check out the "Stacked" example.

IMHO, graphite is a PITA to setup, and documentation is horrible.

If you're a Redis person, 37signals built a StatsD compatible version using EventMachine which stores data in Redis.

This is correct, Minecraftforum.net is not owned or operated by Mojang, that is done by Curse.
