LG Web OS is not android based, so that should be no concern

Some provocative statements, let me know your opinions
Re:HackerTube: YouTube built from videos recommended by HN on Sunday November 01, 2026 @04:15AM (#50323852)
Wrote about similar observations few days back. Bespoke AI prompt, harness and context engineering seem obsolete after few months

Are there any projects/plans to send more probes to interstellar space? I mean Voyager is great and all, but it’s old and it seems it’s days are counted. More contemporary technology could bring us farer and more data on the long run.

You may want to have a look at DeArrow https://dearrow.ajay.app/
Re:HackerTube: YouTube built from videos recommended by HN on Saturday October 31, 2026 @04:56PM (#50320142)
Having HackerTube videos as playlists inside YT makes the video selection available on any device with YouTube app on it, like TVs etc.
As a irregular Vitamin D supplementer myself I wonder if the effect is that significant for so many people anecdotically, why didn’t have have of Europeans and Russians have severe depression historically.
Re:Where the Romans Fought (interactive map) on Sunday October 25, 2026 @05:19PM (#50236161)
I assume it was heavily AI generated. Still very cool data and vizualization
Today I want to present a concept which was meandering through my brain for some weeks: Autopoiesis. The main thing is that it goes one step further and not only adds project/repo specific skills and context into a repo, but a fully functioning AI platform, configured for the specifics of the repo at hand. Of course, the AI platform's source code is not part of the repo, and I don't dare to write one (or let one write) from scratch. But with the power of containers, configs and some scripting plus semi-clever arrangements, we can add all of that with as little overhead of 20 KByte (unoptimized).

What do you think of that concept? Is it worthwile to follow that path, or is it a dead end?

Is there any of this ”bacteria converting plastic to fuel/food/neutral stuff“ actually applied anywhere at scale under economically reasonably conditions?
Re:Welcoming the Nepalese Government to Have I Been Pwned on Thursday August 06, 2026 @06:17PM (#49203401)
First thought was: ouch, government data got leaked and added to the database.
can you tell a bit more about how you got scammed? I was in Cairo twice for business and our hosts organized nice trips through the historic sites and new museum. I intend to go there with my family one day
Is there an way for me as user to be sure that the no upload promise holds? I mean yeah I could use the dev tools, but it would be cooler to have the browser eg prohibiting visually any upload of data beyond the pure url request
Re:NetNewsWire Status on Wednesday June 17, 2026 @03:14AM (#48566900)
Sure that works, but it breaks the flow
Re:NetNewsWire Status on Wednesday June 17, 2026 @01:41AM (#48566182)
It’s my daily news driver and the app I am spending most time in. Have to find ways to limit the amount of sources, though. FOMO is a factor.

Only annoying thing, but I guess out of this app‘s influence is that the embedded safari doesn‘t use the Adblock plugin. AFAIK that’s an iOS/Safari restriction. This leads to huge amount of ads on same pages I open directly in the app. Any clues maybe?

Re:Saying goodbye to Agile on Wednesday April 15, 2026 @01:47AM (#47775131)
Isn’t Communism the original here? It’s often claimed that all historic attempts to establish Communism don’t work cause it wasn’t done in the right way.

In all seriousness, this pattern is probably hard to avoid in any reasonably complex entity/environment. If any such situation would be solved in a global solution (aka silver bullet), it would be used by everyone. As this seems not possible, any framework like Agile, Communism, … can only be a guidance to be applied locally, and broken internally and by external factors in many ways

I was never an RSS user until half a year ago. Now that’s my only way of browsing my choice of (tech) news sources and blogs.

Re:Germany's Merz Admits Nuclear Exit Was Strategic Mistake on Thursday January 15, 2026 @08:10AM (#46631935)
That is correct. Before the nuclear exit due to Fukushima panic her government actually reverted the exit of the former government.
Re:LearnixOS on Friday December 26, 2025 @02:41PM (#46395419)
Skipped through the first pages and I really like your approach. Avoiding to use „magic“ libraries which abstract away a lot of the intricacies the lower levels is helping with the understanding.

I started my journey to develop my own little OS (https://github.com/jbreu/jos ) based on phil opperman‘s tutorial but quickly diverged from his exactly due to his use of such libraries.

Mighty impressive
Anyone can recommend a good quality camera without spyware and ideally open sw stack. I am willing to do it myself with little soldering etc. that’s one rabbit hole didn’t enter yet
Re:Going faster than memcpy on Monday August 11, 2025 @01:08AM (#44860882)
Thought about zero-copy IPC recently. In order to avoid memcopy for the complete chain, I guess it would be best if the sender allocates its payload directly on the shared memory when it’s created. Is this a standard thing in such optimized IPC and which libraries offer this?

Re:YouTube No Translation on Saturday July 19, 2025 @10:00AM (#44615532)
YouTube settings are notoriously volatile even on the same device and being logged in. Subtitles are enabled every other day all of a sudden without any need (even for my natural language content). Since they rolled out the auto-trabslation thing the same happens, I have to switch to original English every few days.
Re:Visualize and debug Rust programs with a new lens on Wednesday May 28, 2025 @03:14PM (#44119625)
That looks very impressive! Would give it a spin but as far as I can tell I can’t use it with my Rust os kernel running inside qemu
