Well if the Brits are making racist comments about the Irish it rather suggests they are a different race or prone to putting themselves down. Ah, hold on a moment …
Still in current usage and almost entirely disconnected from historical context.
And while we are being so critical of evil Brits I’m sure the phrase has never been uttered by native Dubliners giving their own view of the largely rural regions of their own country?
Edit: BTW are you actually suggesting the Irish of the time were a race apart from other indigenous people of the British Isles?
Can you phase synchronise magnetrons? I thought they are a free running oscillator.
Also circa 1kW not a safe thing to be spraying around, I think fleshy things might well be damaged.
More that UK govt anticipated US first position and didn’t want to be beholden to it.
Yes.
The 27th, or the 27th of February.
To us, US English seems to skip a lot of the small joining words of various flavours.
Looks awfully close-coupled
>In Europe all new training aircraft are using diesel(-like) engines now which run on jet fuel or even straight diesel. It's not exactly hard to make the switch.
No they aren’t and yes it is.
3 minute walk to ferry pier
5 minute ferry ride across Sydney harbour to circular quay
6 minute walk to office
Excellent 4g so able to hold video conference all the way
That was my favourite commute.
Standard approach in UK too, though power to switch us increasingly common to support smart switches that need a neutral.
It’s the general vs a specific instance.
He’s gone to hospital. (Hospital is abstract, we don’t necessarily know which one)
He’s gone to the hospital. (A specific hospital, either inferring which one by context or prior knowledge)
Exactly, all you really need is a fresh cup of really hot tea
It was a bit late to de-escalate
after the islands had been invaded. Do you really think Galtieri would have gone for any kind of political settlement that would have seen troops withdrawn or islands returned? The whole thing was his Hail Mary exercise to stay in power. I seem to recall US SoS Haig tried pretty hard to fix things.
The big mistakes by the Brits were made beforehand by not taking seriously the noises being made by the junta, when there might have been a chance to contain things.
It’s very sad that what was once a strong relationship between the two nations went downhill with Peron and since then the islands / evil Brits theme gets rolled out to distract from internal issues.
The Argentine people have certainly suffered appallingly under dictators and poor leadership.
And yes, without the sentiment that followed winning back the islands Thatcher and her then future would probably have played out very differently, but don’t doubt that there was very strong support in the UK at large for the recovery of the islands.
You’re coding safety critical systems and depending on severely non-deterministic tweaks to GC to get it to run right?! Where is this for? (Just so I can avoid it)

I thought the really interesting part was the vertical integration from “ore “ through production to recycle plus the manufacturing streamlining / integration of the cells. If they pull this off and eliminate all the margins otherwise involved they will put themselves at a $/kWh point that only those with very deep pockets will have a chance of matching. So a lot of consolidation to come and remaining others going niche / upmarket.
Transmitter is a cw maser?
First, to nitpick, comparative and superlative forms of unique are nonsense, something is either unique or it isn’t.
It might be pretty rare though, like rear engines cars: hillman imp, Fiat 500, etc and of course vw microbus and beetle which rather brings us back to the 911
How far back do you want to unwind? Should all non-aboriginals be disenfranchised or removed from Australia? At some point you have to work with things as they are and move forward.
I’m not necessarily disagreeing with your characterisation of different outcomes based on size / density and sophistication of pre-colonial populations, but you are factually wrong on commonwealth membership:
