Love the Fincher quote. That escape hatch thing is such a Claudism.

I was surprised to find after using dictation heavily all year that I actually talk a load of rubbish when I'm speaking, using all kinds of cliches and fillers and saying way more than was needed.
Re:WTF Ubuntu?

All the people working at Canonical have gone through the Canonical hiring process, which is quite possibly the worst in the global industry and I can't imagine anyone competent getting through it.
Re:Japan's trains are great. Why is booking one so hard?
on Sunday November 01, 2026 @05:52AM (#50324426)
I found that out before I went, so I took an iPhone specifically for the job. The ease is gives you makes it worth carrying. As for northeast of Tokyo, very few visitors do that, sadly.

Suica on an iPhone, job done? If it's shinkansen then use Smart Ex to load the ticket onto the card.

Your last sentence mirrors my model choices recently. Opus can do things very well but Sol can do them well for less than 1/4 the price.

Rude and cowardly. If you've got a problem, talk to me directly, not about me to other people.

Presumably this is only capacity connected to the grid, and doesn't include isolated data centre builds?

I am the parent claim mate, and I said "I think" not "I provably know for sure". Either way, I see no cause for your little rant.

In my 4th floor apartment in Tokyo there was a box containing what seemed to be basically an abseiling harness. Instructions in Japanese but seemed like if shit hits the fan you smash the window, clip it to the building and get yourself down to street level asap.

I don't think any more than 5% of Plex users are using it for legally-obtained content.
Re:Rabbits were a medieval royal luxury in England until the Black Death

There is some base to it. Chicken breast and rabbit are both very lean therefore lacking the fat which gives it the distinctive flavor of the animal. All lean meat basically tastes the same.

Using a different lab's model to review the code to the one that wrote it. Claude model plans/codes, OpenAI model reviews, or vice versa, or DeepSeek or GLM or whatever.

Most areas of London are ill-defined, I think it's fair to say.
Crystal Palace is a made up place but the club is authentic to that place, if that makes sense?

Yes, the club name bears the shame of having moved across town for money. The MK Dons of the 20th century.
Port Vale is the only other one without a place name but they never moved, I don't know where the name comes from.
