"The west" is an equally useless and vague term as "Asian"
These days, if you say anything positive about Britain, you'll be arrested and thrown in jail
Re:Switzerland proposes banning profiling-based ads to minors on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @09:32AM (#50087546)
This kind of ballot issue is a great filter. It's so obviously correct, the reason of any normal person will be "why was it legal at all?", so anyone arguing against the ban is quite probably paid to do so and should be ignored.
We're talking about retrofitting to existing typical UK radiators. If I was buying new radiators (and paying an electrician to run electricity to them!) then I would want a better return on investment than cooling from 35C to 30C.
You can't pipe cold water through radiators, all you'll get is a very wet floor. Think of an ice cold bottle of beer.

Rinse hold solves this. Even the cheapest machines have it.

They're usually big enough to view the whole recipe, unless you got it from some trash website on the first page of Google

If that was the case, then Claude Code would use smaller models for subagents. It doesn't. The subagent always inherits the parent model unless you tell it specifically not to.

Of course it's a two year cycle, they even have incrementing numbers like 119th Congress.
Re:Why Were Victorian Elites So Effective? on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @11:43AM (#49994434)
This is why grammar schools are so called, they're talking about Latin grammar

The US political system is a two year cycle, as will be demonstrated next month.
Of course I understand this, but I live in a 10 million population city built centuries/millenia before the motor car and I ride a bicycle pretty much everywhere.

Public transport requires density to be cost effective. You can't have a "great transit system" everywhere in a large country. Not here in small and dense England, and not in Germany or Japan either from what I've seen.

> I'm asking them to get rid of one of those cars

As said many posts above, nobody is going to voluntarily reduce their standard of living. You will have to force them. How you do that will be one of the biggest political conversations of this century and not at all easy or simple.

If it's a sparse area then bus service is either going to suck or cost a lot of money.
Huh? I think you have misunderstood. I'm not talking about a hyphen.
Sevenfold! Whatever happened to -fold? It's all 10X this and 5X that these days, nobody says times or fold any more

I have used it for little more than 6 hours or so in total but I'm pretty sure it doesn't have compaction?

Dots seem to me to be for the rest of general knowledge work and not specifically developers

I've been listening to some old Acquired podcast episodes and they do often talk in this type of Claudish. So it's getting it from Silicon Valley startup podcasters... Great...
Re:Teen Social Media Bans Miss the Point on Sunday September 20, 2026 @10:11AM (#49776078)
I don't think so. Everyone sees the same feed. It's more like the New York Times homepage than it is Facebook.
Re:AI-generated posters don’t have to be horrible on Saturday September 19, 2026 @06:33AM (#49765255)
It's not that the first one is so awful in isolation, it's that they are everywhere you look when you walk down the street. The barbers, the school fête, the cafe, the church. Everywhere.

Surely they don't actually like drill bits measured in fractions of an inch, do they?
