> And we aren't talking about clones of polished products here.
Well when I said "This is why I stick to iOS apps" I was actually referring to the cloning of popular websites like quora, reddit etc.I am sorry if I did not make that very clear.
>Lets take something with a bit less stigma.,Background-changing apps. There are, what, 100+ of them?
Why take such an example when I have clearly agreed that it very easy to clone such apps.
> There are dozens of clones of angry birds. Some of them as good or possibly better.
Hmm...now that makes me think !!
a)It takes a lot of time and technical skill to clone a good iOS app..and even if you are successful you have to go through the Apple Developer Program(which is annoying but it helps) and there are legal implications.
b) yeah fart apps are easy to make...but try cloning a good app like angry birds or talking tom cat!
c) if you really wanna clone and make money your best bet would be to clone as fast as possible and clone a lot of apps. You'd much rather just stick to rails apps (heroku ftw!)
d) and lastly there are people who can clone even the best iOS apps very quickly...but with that kind of technical skill also comes creativity and integrity!
haha this is one of the reasons I stick to iOS apps!!

the trek from the centre to the edge or a corner would be rather difficult too....make a mistake and you will fall back to the centre
i so want to code this app in Java...NOT!!
I am very very saddened too!...i wonder if we will see another such great artist and visionary in our lifetimes!
why dont programmers get respect? -> who is John Galt?
wouldnt you rather use a currency whose value does not depend by dumb politicians?...wouldnt you use a currency whose value truly depends on the laws of supply and demand?
yes...we emotionally warped hypergeeks have something tht we can offer people....their own time...while the others seem to be making money through bullshit sales pitches!!
You did not pick it...it picked you!!
Repeat after me..."It is never too late to be awesome"
The masters students must have sufficient funding too.
Yes I do agree with your points. It would have been a lot easier to get funded if you were a citizen.
-But at least now the dream is POSSIBLE as opposed to IMPOSSIBLE.
-You have to make up for these shortcomings by making something that much more awesome.
-And lastly if a VC is not willing to take this simple risk, maybe he should drop the letter V from his designation.
a) Although I agree it is a gray area, the USCIS is probably not going to come after you for "working" for your company for free while you waited for the H1-B approval.
b) Noone has to know.
c) Although different apporaches exist,my opinion is that you should have probably already made something that a lot of people use even before you talk to the VCs.By doing this you were working for your company without an H1B.But this issue can be solved if you refer to point - B above.
yes but at least now you can actively seek venture capital!!
Nothing but respect for Gabriel!

Sincea) You can easily get away with not giving your best.b) They dont really care about design anyways. All these middle level managers really want is something that works so that they can show it their bosses who also probably have no clue how software is written. But thena) You will miss out the opportunity to learn the flaws in the design that you think is "best" unless you implement it again...

obviously these business 2.0 retards have no idea what git is!!!
Thanks for the link mark!
yes..like the other hackers are saying....you have to deal with this problem like a poker player tries to guess his opponents cards....so the first step is to create the piece expectation function...which will basically calculate the probability that a piece is (say knight) at square x,y given the probabilty expectation functions of all the other squares..one way to create probablilities for all squares would be to use a combination of dynamic programming and neural networks...you will have to create a dynamic programming algorithm that sort of trains itself(by storing data rather than changing its code!!) do better and better as you tell it how right or wrong it was....so the topics you are looking to cover in the next exercise (assuming tht u have already done some reading on image processing) are basic probability theory, dynamic programming and neural nets...those are my two cents on the problem.
coz a lot of creative programmers happen to smoke too!!
