Re:AI-generated posters don’t have to be horrible on Monday September 21, 2026 @07:54AM (#49786102)
Not to mention the local cafe owner probably paid some money (not much, but some) to a random designer to get a menu, which is often 10x worst than the AI generated version.

I agree.

To be precise, the tool and the artist are two different things. You can make crap with brushes or PS, and you can make art too.

AI is a tool too. What I build with it is orders of magnitude less important/interesting compared to what a talented artist can build with it.

Not to mention that I can also tell when a poster has been generated using Photoshop and not real artist tools, like brushes and pens. I've seen a lot of these Photoshop-generated posters, and they are in no way comparable to something DaVinci or Picasso would create.

Good idea.
Re:Crafting QR Codes: A deep dive into QR code art on Tuesday August 25, 2026 @09:40AM (#49433907)
Amazing post.

Tangentially related: https://blog.vrypan.net/2026/07/07/where-is-qrdo/ It's a "where is the QR" game, where a mobile is more capable in finding the pattern than a human.

Who said we're building them because we have to? I like TUIs, and often prefer them over GUIs, depending on the case.

Can we bring back DECSSDT/DECSASD?
I don't mind. May even be better, since you get WiFi.

The hard part is the casing/keyboard/screen that replicates the original, but offers modern connectors, power consumption, etc.

I admit it, I don't miss the weight of the CRT screen, but the rest was amazing.
No more /tmp/aaaa

Stash lets you stash away piped data or files, manage them and retrieve them. It's built to fit nicely in command line workflows.

A totally predictable pattern shows more entropy than a randomly generated one. I would love to hear from people who have better and deeper understanding of the topic.

bckt-mcp: a MCP helper for the bckt static site generator. Compose your posts in Claude, let it take care of the front matter, paths, slugs, filenames.
This is cool!
And now that I think of it. IMAP (more or less) allows you to download your mbox file. Why downloading using HTTP is so much worst (it isn't) than using IMAP?
email was working long before there was IMAP. If you want your "keys", you have to be able to download your mbox file (which is possible in hey).
