Re:OpenAI CLI on Friday October 23, 2026 @07:13AM (#50207206)
How is the difference not obvious to you just from the name? Do you think that every CLI is an interactive agentic application? Sorry, but this is baffling.
Re:How to Design Flowers on Friday October 23, 2026 @04:23AM (#50205948)
I would recommend everybody to look up the ABC model of flower development and internalize it. Such a fun bit of knowledge.
Re:Samon: Designing a Zen Garden Raking Puzzle on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @02:09AM (#49988929)
Oh I know. I can keep wishing though haha
Re:Samon: Designing a Zen Garden Raking Puzzle on Tuesday October 06, 2026 @07:35AM (#49977001)
The game is a fun exercise

However, I find that Gwern's stuff in general has gone downhill ever since he has seemingly contracted mild-to-medium AI psychosis. Wish he'd go back to writing.

Re:Gleam doesn't compile to Erlang source anymore on Tuesday October 06, 2026 @06:59AM (#49976749)
Congratulations to the team! I love Gleam and am genuinely having fun every time I write Gleam code.
Re:A Map of Every Lighthouse on the Planet on Sunday October 04, 2026 @03:07PM (#49956842)
I understand fully vibecoding a fun page like this. But not checking anything or even doing a second pass? Honestly incomprehensible to me
Re:OpenAI agent hacked Australian government website, PM says on Thursday September 24, 2026 @08:01AM (#49829442)
Half of the US ruling class turned out to be pedophiles and nothing happened. Why do you expect anything to happen in this situation?

Thank you for playing!

I’m using ENABLE (Enhanced North American Benchmark Lexicon) with a lot of added short Scrabble-legal words

1) I've been running a bunch of little daily puzzle games for my friends for a while, finally got around to polishing one for public release

https://picobble.com/

Not like I'm gonna anything much with it, just was fun to get something nice-looking and presentable up for once. Working on polishing more of them and, of course, designing new ones.

2) A font generation system, inspired by Iosevka, albeit much much simpler. Learning tons of interesting technical things about TTF and WOFF2.

Show HN: Picobble – my daily word puzzle game

https://picobble.com/

I've been designing and running daily puzzle games for my puzzle enthusiast friends for a while now. Finally decided to polish one for public release. It's a bit more demanding of time/effort compared to things like Wordle, but I hope there are some word game enjoyers outside of my friend group who might derive some joy from my little game!

Re:Show HN: Laser Graffiti on Tuesday September 01, 2026 @03:29AM (#49519091)
Both statements are wrong. But yours is wrong-er. You are thinking of street art. Or just spray paint art. The whole point of graffiti is to "get up". If you don't know what getting up is, you should not be espousing any opinions on what graffiti is and isn't.
Re:Small, native web tricks worth remembering on Friday August 21, 2026 @07:52AM (#49386737)
without demos this is mostly useless i think
Re:Ask HN: What are you working on? (August 2026) on Monday August 10, 2026 @07:58AM (#49242519)
Gotta get those kids hooked on LLM garbage nice and early, great goal.

Please rethink this radically. Actually, I don't think you're fit to do this if AI slop is your first instinct, just not your field.

Re:Show HN: Isopolis – Isometric pixel map of SF on Monday August 03, 2026 @02:56AM (#49152118)
Crazy to me that people engage with this. This is not pixelart or any art really, it's just a weird blurry mess. Looks terrible.
Re:How is the Bun Rewrite in Rust going? on Monday July 27, 2026 @07:59AM (#49068332)
I didn't follow the thing too closely when it happened. Sure, I was aware of the big picture. But wow, I didn't expect that after all this noise there still hasn't been a release? That's just crazy to me.

I shouldn't be surprised though, of course. Giving any credit or slack to a high-valuation LLM company is a silly endeavor.

looks great! not shade to the other guy, but your job is so much nicer looking

what a miserable human you are?
Classic STEM guy thinking that STEM is the cure for everything
Re:A website that lists websites to submit your website to on Thursday June 18, 2026 @03:03PM (#48589944)
Having Medium on top is a weird choice in 2026, I find. It's been years since Medium was anything but a spam platform, and with the age of LLM-generated writing the whole thing can be written off. I don't even click on any Medium links anymore, it's so rarely worth it.
Re:Storied Colors – a catalogue of named colors on Thursday June 18, 2026 @02:30PM (#48589482)
I was excited about the website up until I clicked into my first color and read the page. Terrible slop writing. Makes me question the author's judgement in general.
Wish them nothing but good rest!
What a lovely-looking OS! Also great to hear that the project isn't aiming for infinite changes!

Will be digging out some old hardware to test it out very soon, this is exciting!

Worse sound quality and even worse longevity.
> I could've never imagined long-term-thinking like this from a former addict.

Nothing personal, but you are part of the problem here. You are why these stories are so rare and difficult to achieve. Not out of malice on your part, most likely. But addicts are not humans to you. Please rethink some things.

Metafiction thought of as a precursor for hypertext fiction is not anything new I believe?

Awesome paper either way, just thinking that the title is quite hyperbolic.

Re:PlayStation Architecture on Wednesday June 03, 2026 @08:32AM (#48383136)
Did read this years ago and read it today again. Just so happy that there are people producing such quality work. Even if I personally don't know much about any of it, I still find myself being totally sucked in while reading.
Is anything in late stage capitalism good for the world? Any and all benefits are accidental and temporary.
Re:GTA 6 Developers Unionize on Friday May 29, 2026 @02:49PM (#48327619)
Any and all discussions about unions on HN sadly just shows how the supposedly smart people can be extremely misinformed and propagandized. Not even really worth engaging in the discussions when it seems like any compassion has been beaten out of the (mostly USA-based, which explains a lot) audience here.

Happy for the devs, more power to them! For the sake of workers everywhere, I hope the US also catches up one day in empathy and rational thinking, when it comes to labor laws and rights.

You are completely wrong about the IPCC stance. Please read the AR6.
Re:GeoJSON on Friday May 08, 2026 @08:48AM (#48062291)
Recently I got into cartography software for a bit and the horrors of the data formats in this industry are real. Feels like everyone under the sun has their own.

All that said, GeoJSON was a great change of pace, I enjoyed using it. While I'm no professional and have no idea what the professional needs are, it was very good for my hobbyist needs.
