"We need formalized processes, and proven, repeatable control mechanisms to enforce the quality of whatever is coming out of these tools. These do not exist yet. They might emerge one day, but they have not yet3. Until then, I won’t just lay into it blindly. If you consider yourself a software engineer, you should probably give it a minute too."
The same argument cuts both ways. I have seen some horrid code (that I have had to fix) made by humans.
Growing up without a good male role model, I am eternally grateful to Patrick Stewart's performance of Picard.
His performance (as well as how the character was written) still today illustrate what I view as an ideal male archetype. Fair, honest, in control of his emotions yet passionate. Thank you for the gift your performance has given me Mr Stewart. My life would likely have turned out a lot worse without a solid example of that a good man could be
For those who don't care to be held hostage by the journalist as he forces you through a long winded narrative: gold and silver nano particles are embedded into the glass
Why would I use this over ADB?
That movie was an abomination. The studios should he ashamed of what they made. The studio didn't even wait till Adams was cold in the ground before they drove through his screenplay with a bulldozer
Of all the ancient hacker lore, this is probably my favorite bit. What are some of y'alls favorite tales? Famous, your own stories, I am not picky!

I'd guess that most of the Home Assistant user base is "IT people".
I don't see HA as a consumer established product, as much as Nabu Kasa would like otherwise.
Then again, this is just my guesswork. I have 0 clue the demographics of Home Assistant users
Ok so i am wrong to want interface panels to control things with Home Assistant because I have kids?
Nabu Kasa keeps ignoring the elephant in the room of security and permissions. They have no native ability to set user groups and permissions. There is no serious RBAC. I guess it doesn't sell cloud subscriptions. I cant keep my children from affecting devices they shouldn't. I ended up replacing my automation with mqtt
It absolutely is a waste of time, but was a fun waste of time.
It works now. Updates will never come from directv for this box
Once this hardware dies it's not getting repaired. I really enjoy reusing appliances like this. An old MiFi hotspot is the mqtt server for my house

Ya but that would increase complexity and costs. Currently I can use some Meross branded stuff because it can be provisioned without their cloud nonsense and is mqtt. Other bespoke devices are esphome with mqtt control (no home assistant)

I quickly realized that the only rational (for me) home automation solution would be 100% cloud free, off the shelf hardware. No overly complicated, security poor Home Assistant, everything is mqtt
I never understood these things. Just buy a kaios phone for less than $60
This is why I won't buy a phone without an unlockable bootloader.
First thing I do is flash lineageos+microg then root.
Normally I am with you. I like doing strange things with computers for the sake of doing them. My comment was motivated more by what appears to be a waste of resources that are currently scarce, just for internet clicks
What properties do LLMs possess that make human-animal moral status analogies appropriate?
That quote logically implies that people should be paralyzed to act on any novel information. There is no such thing as a discovery that occurs in a vacuum without some prior art. "Standing on the shoulders of giants"
Then again, its a silly illogical movie
So effectively by your criteria, there is essentially no ethical use of a large language model? Am I understanding your position correctly? If not I am really confused by your original comment
By that benchmark, "AI should handle repetitive labor so humans don't have to" is an abhorrent take and equates someone to hitler?

Imginn.com/whateverrouteoninstagram
So instagram.com/foo becomes
Imginn.com/foo
Hope this helps!
Considering the eyebrow raising funding sources, probably not
I have it 3d printed by my workstation on a small sign
But why though? Cannot possibly be useful at such slow speeds, and costs a ton to perform that badly
I cannot stress enough the point made in the article about showing curiosity. An engineer who wants to take things apart, figure out how they work is far more valuable than an educated, certified engineer. The certified, educated engineer knows what they are taught. The curious figure out whats possible
