backwards X axis? is there a reason for that? it looks ridiculous
Re:Show HN: Hallucinopedia on Friday May 08, 2026 @02:58PM (#48067258)
This page links to https://halupedia.com/observations-on-architectural-recursio...

Only problem I'm seeing is that you'd want pages to recognise when they're talking about the same thing, so that you don't have duplicates with slightly different titles and content. You'd want to avoid it re-introducing the same concept if it could refer to an existing matching concept on another page.

E.g. if I make another page https://halupedia.com/buildings-within-buildings-2, I'd expect it to refer to /buildings-within-buildings. Currently it doesn't mention it at all.

I'd also expect /architectural-recursion to mention Archibald Plinth, since he's the author of /observations-on-architectural-recursion. Instead, it mentions Archibald Flicker.

Maybe this can be solved with some kind of graph structure?

This is awesome, it feels a lot like the SCP Foundation wiki.

Here's one I just made: https://halupedia.com/buildings-within-buildings

Re:Parallel Agents in Zed on Saturday April 25, 2026 @04:32PM (#47904350)
Fair point, the existing tools probably suck.

They'll definitely lose me though if the whole plan is to turn this into Codex running on GPUI.

Re:Parallel Agents in Zed on Saturday April 25, 2026 @04:27PM (#47904306)
If you don't want to be looking at code, why download a code editor? Why not just use the Codex app?

Turning Zed into Codex alienates the existing user base who installed Zed because it's a code editor. If I wanted Codex I would have installed Codex.

Re:Parallel Agents in Zed on Wednesday April 22, 2026 @02:26PM (#47867370)
I personally don't love the idea of the default layout pushing aside my code and filetree to make space for AI tools

I really like Zed, I use it every day. But, if I'd seen this layout when I first installed, I never would have taken it seriously

I imagine this will push some new users away

Re:Ian's Shoelace Site on Monday February 02, 2026 @03:41AM (#46853804)
I was like 10 years old when I learned about the Ian Knot. I'm 28 now.

I remember showing my friends at school. They were shocked how fast I could tie my shoelaces.

I don't even remember the normal way you're supposed to tie them

I guess I just googled "how to x" for literally everything when I was a kid

I agree with you but I'd point out that unless you've read the book it's difficult to know if the answer you got was accurate or it just kinda made it up. In my experience it makes stuff up.

Like, it behaves as if any answer is better than no answer.

I need to see your website to give good advice
Re:Ask HN: How do you learn Spanish guitar? on Friday June 27, 2025 @09:29PM (#44401707)
https://jamplay.com/

I used JamPlay more than 10 years ago, when I was about 15. I learned really fast. They teach you music theory too.

I always found really good resources to learn the things I wanted to learn back then, not sure how I did it!

Re:Show HN: Compare salaries, tax, & living costs globally on Friday February 07, 2025 @09:14AM (#42972742)
Would be cool if I could just input salary in USD once and see the total savings in every city, a bit more like a spreadsheet

Ask HN: Which analytics platform do you use?

Re:Magic UI: UI Library for Design Engineers on Friday May 24, 2024 @01:57PM (#40468722)
> isn't the point of design engineering to be capable of coming up with relatively original and innovative UI?

that's definitely why I got into it years ago, but it seems like it has lost it's meaning and been simplified into "engineer that likes design" or "engineer that wants to be good at design"

I haven't done much testing or anything, but it seems to me that siglip "understands" what it's looking at more than CLIP

also no, I just put everything on Supabase and added pgvector. super easy:

https://supabase.com/docs/guides/database/extensions/pgvecto...

yeah. I actually wrote the logic for the layout myself (wasn't really happy with the available libraries). may open source this if people are interested!
