Re:Ask HN: What is the best thing you read in 2024? on Wednesday December 25, 2024 @09:10AM (#42508842)
I am so glad to read this comment. Wodehouse is sublime in all what he wrote - if you end up reading Jeeves series, I would recommend Right Ho, Jeeves and Code of Woosters
For me, it’s the determinism of nature. The clear hard fact that nothing I can do will impact the pre-determined outcomes. This is cold physics as we know of today. Also, the ‘present’ feeling different from past is just a trick our mind plays on us. This realisation has had profound impact on me - but this dawned on me quite late despite reading a lot on this topic for years.

Re:Gmail.com was down on Monday December 10, 2012 @11:57AM (#4899997)
Chrome crashing due to failed sync problems with google servers and gmail is down.

Ask HN: Slow Gmail - a way to move out?

I am using Gmail exclusively to non-work email for last few years. Lately, gmail has become excruciatingly slow. I was thinking if I can host my own VPS/Amazon AWS to handle email storage redirected from Gmail as the primary account. Any thoughts on this approach ?

Love this part - Marc Andreessen thinks you need to fire over 10K people. He’s probably right. I would start with anyone with the title ‘Architect’ or ‘Program Manager’ in their title. HR is probably another good place to look too
