Re:The Nature of Dance on Monday September 14, 2026 @07:48AM (#49695248)
if you avoid the ideological capture of "getting good at [dance style]" then what you dance means is "playing with the physical energy stored in the body"

muscles store physical energy in the form of tension, if you can create a bit of tension [here] then smoothly transfer it [there] you are "dancing".

how it looks to an observer is irrelevant. stretch this game enough on every dimension and it will eventually start to look [positive valence] to observers

the old ways are dying, theres so much room for new creativity. exciting

the followers acurred willing to jump into your new thing would be the moat then, as would be your "software factory" that enables the fast fashion fast software creativity
a nice md editor feels good. when all the UI is out of the way it gives a minimalism feel and i start to notice tiny details like 'this font is really soothing' and thats where i imagine i want to put my markdown thoughts in. a pure interface

explorations in minimalism

codex has been able to send messages across threads for a long time

he said the prompt was the first paragraph of LoTR, but he didn't mention a preamble

this guy seems to have taken that idea and got something similar/better, so likely the prompt isn't too special

we're measuring if people are listening to AI music, not what percentage of AI music is slop
Re:Facebook is cooked on Saturday February 21, 2026 @06:26AM (#47099767)
a common complaint about instagram is that you can no longer see your friends, just creators. i assume creators don't have this problem though, since they're having fun seeing all their creator friends

I like this a lot. I told someone once I avoid documentation like the plague and it just didn't have the same poetic ring as this line.

Sometimes you need to dive in, other times you need to hobble together something to step over

its very likely to cause reciprocal tariffs though, and exports of Hollywood way out weigh the imports of foreign films

I was thinking something similar, i know i'm going to build skyscraper high arguments that hinge on just this headline

Re:Meta announces 5% cuts in preparation for 'intense year' on Tuesday January 14, 2025 @01:28PM (#42701583)
it makes sense that if average tenure at a company is 3-5 years then some percentage yearly firing will cull people who have 'quiet quit' and havent fully quit yet

iirc those overclocks needed thermal paste to be reapplied, plus dust in case probably crushed airflow
Re:Grayjay Desktop App on Saturday December 21, 2024 @04:02AM (#42478388)
will grayjay do the push/creation side as well, or is that a different product?
Re:12 Days of OpenAI: Day 5 [video] on Wednesday December 11, 2024 @01:40PM (#42391184)
my understand is that apple intelligence aims to be a tiny model that runs locally, and when it identifies that a request is complex it sends it off to chatgpt

though it looks like this is just the first of many 'extensions' that can be added to apple intelligence

Re:12 Days of OpenAI: Day 5 [video] on Wednesday December 11, 2024 @01:34PM (#42391092)
ChatGPT integration in iOS without an account. 3 integrations:

1. siri can hand off when it decides via 'extension'

2. writing tools

3. camera control / visual intelligence

pretty cool at the end they demo'd using Preview, asking a question of the PDF via Siri/ChatGPT

Re:Why Americans Are Obsessed with Poor Posture on Tuesday December 03, 2024 @08:31PM (#42313659)
yep this is exactly what is saving me, and its taking a while. how long did it take you to “complete” the AT/myofascial work?
Re:Why Americans Are Obsessed with Poor Posture on Sunday November 24, 2024 @08:56PM (#42232482)
i lifted weights to attempt to fix postural issues that i noticed in my 20s. it made things worse

the issue was that i lifted weights to make big number go up, instead of using weights as a support tool to explore muscles in the body

threads federates with mastodon, what stops threads getting on the AT protocol? is it just their assumed desire to not share data? they could be a mastodon / AT bridge
from the headline alone I got linkedin ceo vibe. "Built a Self-Healing System to Survive a Concurrency Bug" is how I could describe wrapping a failing method in a retry loop
Re:Andrej Karpathy on learning (should never be fun) on Sunday November 10, 2024 @07:25AM (#42099822)
i made a similar reply, linking to the ideas of flow state etc [1]. i dont know why you'd chase the feeling of effort, surely you'd avoid the feeling of effort where possible without reducing learning

Re:How 'Factorio' Seduced Silicon Valley on Saturday October 26, 2024 @11:38PM (#41959685)
"not in any way similar to coding" is a very strong statement

many people feel it feels similar to coding, in the way you have to slowly refactor designs + work involves a recursive breakdown of tasks + tracing/debugging of issues

Re:Grandmaster-Level Chess Without Search on Friday October 18, 2024 @09:45AM (#41879426)
what i like about this is that it implies you can build heuristics good enough to make it to GM level. this is great because i find calculating moves a headache
Re:Who died and left the US $7B? on Friday October 11, 2024 @03:57AM (#41807295)
yep, iirc on the huberman podcast on testosterone it even said that the competition that's decided by society has an impact on t-levels. societies that make prosocial / win-win games for men obv end up better off
