A CEO always just had to write “optimize profits”.
But IMHO what humans do is turn their intentions into reality using tools.
Intention is human, reality is perceived by humans. I feel that you need humans in the whole chain to communicate with reality (the context) and serve as translators and drivers for our tools.
Sorry that I can’t put more precise words here, but I am somehow convinced that there is a fundamental mechanism here that limits the reach of AI.
I would make the hypothesis that racism outbursts are tied to worsening life conditions.
That is the software industry. Our product is less bugged than our competitor’s.
Wait I'm Belgian and it is basically unheard of that a company cannot answer a customer's message for a month.
If it is a small company, then the owner will answer. If it is bigger, holidays will be planned so that no interruption will occur.
Companies can close completely for a week, usually between Christmas and New Year. That's all.
Hopefully this uniquely American push for dysfunctional government stays on their side of the ocean.
I found a French manufacturer called wearerewind.com who uses a heavier brass wheel and better clarity. Quite pricey though, as it is to be expected.
This make me think of Into the Wild. Its cultural appeal may come from its resonance with those ancient cautionary tales.
That machine would be very different from my gaming PC however. I could use it exactly like a console, which is a different use case than a desktop PC.
What I find funny is that these kind of quotes are often used to mean that older generations will always criticize younger generations, no matter what. At the same time, those critics' civilizations all collapsed, sometimes catastrophically. Maybe these critics happen when a civilization ends. Maybe not.
Uranium is not a fossil fuel, it’s a metal.
What if the interviewer is looking for a true teammate and is put off by your attitude, and thinks you are greedy and selfish, a mercenary? You lose that good job with a test that lumps together the best and the worst actors.
If I remember correctly the rules for minimum inheritance, it’s actually (n-1)/n of the inheritance has to be dedicated to the children, where ‘n’ is the number of children.
Each child is entitled to 1/n of that.
If I have 5 children, I have to give them 4/5 of the inheritance. Each one will have 1/5 of that 4/5.
And in the case of a sole child, she must receive 100% of 50% of the inheritance, at least.
People with ADHD who medicate are less likely to suffer from drug addiction than the general population, not more.
But only after denying their responsibility for a few years.
I live in Belgium and I never heard of that. Do you have any source? I’m interested.
Depends on who you’re asking. My 2012 Thinkpad is on the latest Windows 10. It works very well with its SSD and it is really quiet (new thermal paste). Meanwhile, my 2011 MBA cannot even get GarageBand from the App Store because its OS won’t upgrade. Otherwise it’s fine...
It’s been at least 13 years that the meaning has changed. Since the introduction of the 13 inch MacBook Pro.
Indeed, but they come from a place where not valuing dying for your country enables millions of civilian deaths and a totalitarian state.
Well the cadre status is is the same way as the exempt. It’s easy to reach the point where you can ‘qualify’ for it, unfortunately.
I respectfully disagree. To me it is a good example of the style of the article reflecting its meaning. To me, the author says that this topic is a welcome relief in a world where every topic is conflictual and complicated. It is the only thing that currently makes the frontpage that is appeasing to the mind, because the mind can fully comprehend it. It is great because it is simple, and it is explained simply.
Your example is extremely convoluted and doesn't mean anything.
It’s exactly the same in France with the « cadre » status.
I get it. It’s hard to eat well, to sleep enough, to exercise. Taking time off is one of those things in my opinion.
European law foresees those exact cases and IIRC prohibits automated treatment of personal information that leads to decisions that affects someone’s life, if no human takes the final decision and if the specific elements for the decision cannot be explained. In my opinion this forbids black boxes.
So the mere threat of a ransomware attack would be enough to extract huge sums of money.
I always wondered why smartphones didn’t register a click as targeting the element that was in-position ~100ms before.
That would solve a lot of infuriating mistakes.
Disclaimer: I'm not a developer. From what I read, is seems like that the web files have to be packaged in a given structure with an XML manifest, and then you need to call the SCORM API that is implemented by the LMS you're uploading the SCORM module to. You litterally just need to call LMSInitialize() at the beginnign of the presentation, and LMSFinish() at the end.

Since many e-learning creators are not graphic designers, a tool such as the one presented here could be quite helpful.
You can take a look at this:
https://youtu.be/UeyIExDQqjg?t=798Many basic elearning modules are just glorified powerpoint files. A lot of time is lost in beautifying those.
Great idea! Does anyone know if something similar exists for e-learning (ie sending SCORM data at the end of the presentation)?
When you know the date of an event, you can locate others events that are not in a direct relationship with it. You can then situate the evolution of distant lines of events without needing to memorize too many dependency graphs.
