Interesting stuff! Why do you think he was given so much access to material that wasn't directly relevant to his work?
Whoa. Do you have insider knowledge?
He was offered a job at TAO, but turned it down to work at BAH (near the end of his career).
Re:Show HN: My SSH server knows who you are on Wednesday August 05, 2015 @01:09AM (#10008113)
Wow, thanks for demonstrating this. A dead simple technique like this could have compromised me when trying to use SSH pseudonymously.
Here's a list of providers accepting BTC: http://cryto.net/~joepie91/bitcoinvps.html
I'm guessing Chris knows Satya on some personal level.

Oh no.

The .git directory wouldn't be crawled though, correct?

It certainly would be interesting if NSA started intercepting and implanting these products à la Cisco ;)

Not always, especially when law enforcement can request data straight from the provider, which I would imagine happens in the majority of internet crime investigations. Because let's be real, how many internet companies have a zero knowledge policy towards their users' data?

They already have a front door. It's called "get a warrant".

Not really...

Re:DigitalOcean Raises $83M in Series B Funding on Wednesday July 08, 2015 @01:21PM (#9853183)
I am also curious about this. The fact that Vultr accepts Bitcoin as payment further piques my interest. Can anyone shed some light on their performance and convenience vs. DigitalOcean?

Edit: Found this http://blog.due.io/2014/linode-digitalocean-and-vultr-compar..., which seems to portray it quite favorably.

Re:British spies 'moved after Snowden files read' on Saturday June 13, 2015 @07:17PM (#9713122)
These are anonymous government sources. Can we really expect them to tell the truth? It seems more likely that these officials are exploiting the general public's lack of knowledge on this issue to turn them against Snowden and the journalists.
> Also, the NSA read and store everything you do on the Internet.

For the vast majority of internet users, this is true.

Clarification: Maybe not actually read as most people understand the term, but collect, store, and analyze.

I thought it was quite humorous.
Re:YouTube now defaults to HTML5 video on Tuesday January 27, 2015 @06:13PM (#8956818)
It's extremely bloated.
I agree. I don't believe this report includes anything that could pose a legitimate threat to national security. If the NSA has begun militarizing the internet, the public has a right to know.
No, it doesn't. Snowden isn't the one who's been releasing these documents; the journalists are. For your claim to make any sense, you'd have to believe Der Spiegel is secretly working for the Russians.

Pearson does this in all of their services.
Re:RTFM 0day in iOS apps on Thursday August 21, 2014 @01:13PM (#8208417)
> When a user opens a URL with the tel scheme in a native app, iOS does not display an alert and initiates dialing without further prompting the user.

What is the justification for this behavior? Why should the web browser open a prompt but not other apps?

No, the title sounds tongue-in-cheek to me.

Could you please elaborate?
Using Firefox on Windows 8:

neomsg.com uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed.

Same here.
It was sarcasm.

I'm aware of this, but the 2012 article posted around here says it was done yearly.
