It's also that common design tropes hadn't been established yet. At the time we were all just winging it and doing whatever came to mind within the scope of our abilities. As we became more connected online, and interactions became more realtime, our tastes homogenized, leading to what we have now.
Also the Pixelbook :)
I assume this is attributed to valet and tipping.

Re:The Copilot+ PC brand is dead on Saturday September 26, 2026 @01:02PM (#49858427)
Nobody ever thought Copilot could replace/destroy humanity, it can barely butter its own toast.
Gave it a spin and I love it. Very responsive

The asset is more akin to a deed or a claim. Most NFTs are images hosted on S3 or IPFS. The blockchain entry is metadata with a pointer to the hosted asset.

I've never seen model providers marketing like that. What examples have you seen?
I don't want to contact you for pricing.
Why was this comment marked [dead]

You nailed it, I'm glad you had a good outlet for it.
Rest in peace! I definitely have some strong memories watching JCD over the years. You will be missed.

If that's what happened, I wonder if the same filters exist for tools like Grammarly. Some people are English as a second language, and some people simply want to put the best foot forward and make the best first impression.
Very cool! Is this also hosted on plan9 per chance?

Re:Bring Back Crappy Forums on Thursday July 02, 2026 @11:40AM (#48763249)
I have very fond memories of PHPBB. A lot of tech communities migrated to Discord now, so that chat history is not indexable by search engines, which makes finding information a little tough. When building Uproar chat, to combat that "lost information" that is inherent to chats, we added a pin-to-feed feature so you can pin anything you said in chat to a publicly viewable feed, which is indexable by search. It's not as nostalgic or "great" as PHPBB was, but it's better than nothing.
Ahem, plenty of Discord alternatives out there ;) Nothing wrong with making a backup or bridge!
Only a few of us are big enough to fit an LLM on a tshirt
Re:Ask HN: Where is our profession (programmer) going? on Wednesday June 24, 2026 @11:47PM (#48668617)
We're still running the race, but it's just not on foot anymore. You can still run it into the wall if you're not careful where you're going.
It's a claude eat claude world out there
