Definitely. Bismuth's video is somewhat better at explaining the concept but it seems cruel not to mention Pannenkoek since his iconic video is what popularized the whole concept.
Completely unsurprising. This whole project seems so superfluous that it must be some intelligence-related thing for a wholly different purpose. Can you share how you know it is CIA funded?
It's disgusting how scientists come up with these elaborate excuses to do things they know everyone will object to. Stop playing god
If you suffer from insomnia, there are so many other things you can do. Check your Vitamin D and B levels. Meditate. Don't get a bed that emits more EMF. That definitely won't help you.
before anyone tries to mock me for mentioning EMF: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5247706/
The US imports way too much and our economy has been slowly dying since the 70s. Tarriffs are only a nuisance for the upperclass, they're a boon for middle class Americans because they allow more industry to come back to the United States.
It's really funny to me that people are so partisan. You only worry about backdoors under Trump? As if the CIA has not be orchestrating coups around the world for half a century?
The majority of Americans do not care and do not really want US tech to be global. The majority of Americans are ashamed of US soft power and the way we meddle with other countries constantly. While loss of dollar hegemony will have economic implicatiosn for the US, American's just don't really care about having dollar hegemony. We don't care about any of these things or what Europe is doing.
How is this any more morally questionable than forcing employees to upgrade to Windows 11?
Welcome to the brave new world where modern OSes only get worse
Things become less normie hostile as more people adopt it. Two decades ago reddit was normie hostile.
Stop voluntarily communicating through platforms that so easily ban you.
You're missing the point.
Your reply is less insightful than the original commenter.
He just said they did it as a hobby since childhood. That doesn't make them geniuses.
"The bull is dead" is completely useless information. This story seems to be an example of poor parenting to me...
There is a time and place for conveying information quickly and concisely, and there is a time and a place for storytelling and human connection. Seems the latter has been lost on this child's upbringing.
Neural networks are modeled of human brains in some ways but the majority of AI is not and humans just anthropomorphize the results. Humans don't take in terabytes of data and spend hours fitting a multidimensional regression between labels and the raw data. We build logical connections to understand things over continued exposure. Just because AI "feels" human does not mean it approaches anything actually resembling a human mind. What holds us back from understanding this in the legal system is the fact that lawyers and judges are so technically illiterate.
Another perk of staying on Firefox 83.0, the favicon doesn't even load!
That's the thing. These hacks alwways end up negatively impacting some edge cases. I found a site once that used JS to autosize the text... as a result you couldn't manually resize with ctrl - and ctrl+.. It's better to stick to standards
Irony has gone too far when you're writing an article explaining how your ironically bad and retro web design is good, actually.
Do you worry that if you use it too much you will no longer be able to bang out those simple tasks without it? It seems to me like it will make you weaker at some skills. Like how I take around 30 seconds to read a mechanical clockface.
I like to use my brain as my copilot
> It's just that somehow techies seem to have gotten this meme into their heads that an unpatched life isn't worth living.
This collective delusion is the main justification for SaaS which is what the tech industry in current year is dependent on .
I had one Nokia, and it was the worst android phone I've purchased.
The USB-C jack broke after a month of use. The firmware never got the bugs ironed out and would constantly crash. The battery life was terrible, even brand new.
This is much less confusing in Europe because all the card readers are smaller and the nfc reader is always on the screen, and the card is the same size as the screen. In the US the screens are so big and the reader spot can be on the screen, on the side, etc , never consistent
I'm sorry but you'd have to be a fool to host your podcast on Apple.... I'm shocked that Apple's podcast hosting ever had an option to export the data. I've never used Apple podcasting services for listening because it always seemed like a huge pain designed to lock you in. There's plenty of free Podcast apps out there. And IMHO -- if it doesn't have an RSS feed it's not a podcast. (Looking at you, Patreon Substack Spotify Rokfin etc)
It's not regulation. Google just has chosen to cripple it, the same way Twitter and Facebook mostly chose to censor certain viewpoints. All of these groups thing they are doing good.
He's just an a-hole. He managed to convince people otherwise by having an interesting blog.
Can you PLEASE give some advice on how to manually scrape it? I also can't manage to get a backup done.

The pinboard threads have been petering out. However for me a month ago my archives finally started working again. Maybe Maciej is actually somewhat maintaining the service? Has anyone else seen some improvement? Sadly I still am unable to download the archive of my cached pages though.I've also compiled a list of many of the alternatives that have been mentioned on HN in the...
