My Actions are stuck waiting :-/
Re:OpenAI bots meddled with multiple US Government agency sites on Saturday September 26, 2026 @02:39PM (#49859268)
I don't care if OpenAI feels like they have control or not. They are responsible for their actions.
Dan's work on automating this process is so cool to see. If anyone is interested in learning more about Sanborns, I can't recommend OldInsuranceMaps.net enough. Hooray for mapping history :)
Is this project open source?
Yes! There are many similar projects[0] that we drew inspiration from. I hope to set Yesterdays apart in terms of our crowdsourcing toolset, tight integration with OSM and Wikidata, and the relationships we are building with libraries and museums that hold these collections.

I'll have to check out your Substack, it sounds right up my alley!

Yeah, there's a lot more I want to do in terms of date filtering. There is a timeline filter available on the map page, but I'm thinking it needs to be more intuitive. Thanks for checking out the site!
That is the goal! I've been amazed at what we have uncovered on my block. Lots of unlabeled photos that end up filling in historical details of how the city has changed.
Hey OroPla, thanks for your comment. I agree I have work to do in terms of making the site more approachable to new users. I'd really value any ideas you have to that end.

Yesterdays is fully open-source, and while the production site runs in Kubernetes, the development setup in Docker Compose might meet your needs. If you ever wanted to talk through the process of running Yesterdays for your dad's collection, I'd be glad to help you with that.

Cheers!

Yes! This is on the horizon, and I have a number of groups across the U.S. who have committed to helping grow Yesterdays in their localities.

Here is the relevant GitHub issue if you'd like a peek at where this is headed:

Wow. I love my OnePlus 15 and plan to use it as long as I can. I guess it'll be some sort of GrapheneOS setup next.

If you are in the U.S. please each out to OSMUS, they are amazing and can connect you with trail mapping resources. There is a vibrant community of folks keeping our trails mapped!

Ah yeah I missed that. Thanks
Every morning I remind Claude it's locked in a closet and then it does maths for free
That would have been such a different HN thread. "Dang I feel a nice bump in performance here, way to go" and that would be that.
They don't recognize atheists anymore? Am I reading that right?

OP said 70GB/a so I'm gonna assume that's gigabytes per annum /j

Oof. Is this for the software itself or their add-on LLM subscription?

Yes, you can blacklist providers in OpenRouter account settings.

Re:Tailscale Peer Relays is now generally available on Wednesday February 18, 2026 @03:14PM (#47065759)
I've been relatively happy with Headscale, but now that I have MacOS/iOS users I'm in the process of testing alternatives like Netbird. I was also surprised that the Tailscale Kubernetes operator is not compatible with Headscale.
Re:A Guide to Local Coding Models on Sunday December 21, 2025 @06:46PM (#46349834)
Yes, we are doing that. These tools help make my personal projects come to life, and the money is well worth it. I can hit Claude Code limits within an hour, and there's no way I'm giving OpenAI my money.
This is a great resource! Thanks
Re:I finally understand Cloudflare Zero Trust tunnels on Monday November 17, 2025 @02:32AM (#45951560)
Sort of. Many tailscale clients you would use with headscale are closed source.

The time to fight is now!! We are careening toward a bleak future of mobile computing.
In my experience, the third main variable here is cost. Light gear can be durable, but that usually costs a lot more because it uses expensive materials like titanium.
