How does Poland fit into it? Poland has been burned by war, something I'm sure you're aware of. America sits between Canada and Mexico, neither of which will ever pose any kind of threat to America. And yet the wars continue. I don't care about communism or capitalism; I care about people dying. Look at the timelines of all the wars the US engages in and it's hard to see, empirically, why I'm supposed to cheer for the US. It's just colonisation.
As to this particular war - the US agreed at the end of the cold war not to expand NATO east and yet it did, breaking the agreement. William Burns, in 2008, then a diplomat, now director of the CIA knew that expansion of NATO into Ukraine would trigger a war and wrote a memorandum 'nyet means nyet' more than a decade ago. NATO went ahead and expanded knowing this. At multiple points during this war, the Russians have offered to negotiate. Instead, the US has responded with "to the last Ukrainian". At present, the Ukrainians have lost, and yet the West continues the charade - either due to political blowback, or more likely, they simply attach zero value to dead Ukrainians and figure any dead Russians is worth it.
In 2002, US argued for pre-emptive war against Iraq due to weapons of mass destruction. Everyone at the time knew it was a lie but it went ahead anyway. Today, Russia is essentially also arguing for pre-emptive war but the reasoning - putting American missiles and forces in Ukraine - is a hell of a lot plausible.
The fact that there has been not one effort to negotiate by the Americans shows that the West isn't interested in peace or the interests of Ukrainians - they simply want a country naive and suicidal enough to throw themselves against the Russian subhumans.
Edit: I live in Australia.
Now hand over $800 billion dollars for 'defense'. And $368 billion for AUKUS. And the European bill will be interesting to watch over the next few years.
Just don't think about that F word - fascism.
If these concerns people have about ESG are so important, they should be passed at the democratic level via legislation. At least that way, people could debate and change the system as needed. You didn't need ESG to get rid of lead plumbing - just an interested government.
Of course these days, we can only have private power, not public power.
If I were to identify as the Queen of England, people would ignore me if I were to issue edicts, and they would be right to do so. However when people identify as the opposite gender that they actually have, doctors are happy to allow them to undertake life altering surgeries and allow people to invade opposite gender areas such as toilets or sport or any number of other arenas of life.
These problems occur when people ignore reality. The fact that you can't see this suggests you are stuck in a political bubble.
Rewarding the mob for its hysteria and stupidity by hiding away from them is the wrong move in my humble opinion; after all, you're only losing internet points which aren't real.
Your comment is admirable but misses the point; it's not about helping people, it's about finding issues that can be drowned in hysteria to shovel tax payer money into corporate bank accounts. Once Ukraine is finished (which is about now depending on what Poland tries to do with western Ukraine/Galicia) the campaign will switch to some pablum about how the US did its best and stopped Putin in his tracks but it's time to move on. Since the US election is coming up, the corporate money will be behind Biden, at least if Trump wins the nomination. Assuming Biden wins, then another campaign will begin to repeat the cycle.
Note - I'm not "pro-Trump"; he is some sort of clown but seems to have the vested interests riled up because he picked a peace platform, probably so he can put defense spending into his own pocket. That is verboten.
But my parents come from Poland and I live in Australia (which has also been effectively been made into a vassal state) and I despair at being put under American rule. I thought Europe had sufficient strength given its population, economy and history to push back and at least remain independent, but it appears not.
Only you can decide whether you think this was the Russian flag or not but I suspect you will not be able to simultaneously argue that it was the Soviet flag during WW2 and the Russian flag during communism. If you believe Russia occupied countries such as Ukraine and Belarus and controlled/occupied Poland, Romania etc, then you will have to accept that the Russians did in fact do the most to defeat the Germans.
If you don't believe it was Russia, and rather the USSR, then you will have to accept it was the collective efforts of countries of the USSR (and the occupation by Russia falls into doubt).
You can't have it both ways.
In either case, the Americans played a lesser role in the defeat of the Germans in WW2 and more properly could be credited with defeating the Japanese. This would make sense as the US is more a naval power than a land power.
There is a book called "When Titans Clashed" that may be of interest to you in regards to your statement about "europe has freedom today and not a german dictatorship is the US in WW2."
