Re:Waymo – Dallas Open to All on Tuesday August 04, 2026 @07:20PM (#49176621)
I was talking with someone visiting from Florida the other day and they were talking about how Waymo is slurping money that would have otherwise stayed in the local economy. E.g. you pay an uber driver, the uber driver pays the grocery store, etc.

This is something that had never occurred to me since I love taking Waymos here in the bay area. I guess Waymos operating in Florida need local labor to maintain and clean the cars? How are others thinking about this?

are their orbits and trajectories computed ahead of time to avoid collisions?
well written and has a distinctly human feel to it, compared to the slop we get to read these days.
i created a “simcity for logs” to generate synthetic test logs and simulated data sets https://logsim2.vercel.app/
Good idea, maybe I could simply store this is in the browser's local storage instead of implementing server side state.

“Now with AI outlines, you can quickly grasp the main points or delve into specific details that pique your interest”

is this a nod to pg’s delve blowup on twitter?

Re:The Language of Faces on Saturday November 02, 2024 @08:46PM (#42030374)
Got it. So smiling and angry faces are part of our pre-training. Whereas making a “thinking face” or “embarrassed face” is part of cultural fine tuning.

Touching story. You are a good friend and Geof seems like he was an excellent individual.

No. Cohen’s is better.

If you’re building a new SaaS today would you simply implement this natively in your stack or go with a vendor like auth0?

This seems like a variation of a fundamental attribution error.

Gas?! ESG stands for environmental, social, and governance.

> "Vampire facial" is the common name for a platelet-rich plasma microneedling procedure. In this treatment, a patient's blood is drawn, spun down to separate out plasma from blood cells, and the platelet-rich plasma is then injected into the face with microneedles. It's claimed—with little evidence—that it can rejuvenate and improve the look of skin, and got notable promotions from celebrities, including Gwyneth Paltrow and Kim Kardashian.
Wouldn’t the airlines simply hike up fares to price this in? Is there regulation that caps how much flights cost?
Big fan of YC and pg. I'm waiting for some immigration related things to fall into place before I apply, but it's been several years. Potentially crass question: what is the age or industry experience distribution of a typical YC batch these days? Would a founding team in their early 40s be dinosaurs in a room full of young stars? Asking for a friend.
Re:Making Truth Social Comply with the AGPL on Saturday April 13, 2024 @11:53PM (#40028508)
Good on them for complying: https://github.com/boehs/truthsocial/tree/main/source

Looks like a straightforward ruby on rails app.

I don't have a legal background so I'm curious what would have happened if they hadn't complied? Fined in a civil case?

“Oh cool violin! Looks like it has a lot of history?”

“Nah it was actually made in 2022 and that’s a made up name on a fake label lol”

Sorry if I come across as ignorant but scratching something with pasta and using yellowed book pages to give it an artificially aged look is dishonest, especially for a $18k object made by a skilled artisan. I’m sure it looks and plays great in its mint form.
