This is f*cking beautiful.
i really really hope that you didn't know what they just released today...
Re:The Rise and Fall of America's Awful Beer Glass on Friday October 03, 2014 @05:46PM (#8407820)
surprisingly, at least in my observation, very little in the service industry is user-centered.
Your post made me immediately go measure a print I have hanging on my wall by binder clips because I got excited to finally put that print in a frame for a reasonable price...

...and was immediately let down when the price was pretty much just as expensive as a regular framer. Womp.

Re:Show HN: HackerBracket – What are you working on? on Wednesday October 01, 2014 @04:29PM (#8397498)
I joined and posted something and a few things jumped out: no place for a link to the project (if there's a home for it) and no way to edit or update posts. Weird.
Re:Steve Jobs Introduces the iPhone 6 and Apple Watch on Friday September 12, 2014 @02:47AM (#8306855)
IMHO the "Apple logo" is what's going to move product.
well this is awkward...
Re:Silent Teacher – A game to learn how to code on Friday August 22, 2014 @02:27PM (#8213306)
that's a pretty biased assumption. javascript is a perfectly fine language to learn to code in, especially given its prevalence and penetration. there's some weirdness to it, yes, but every language has its quirks.
Re:Famo.us Gets $25M to Make JavaScript More Famous on Wednesday August 13, 2014 @02:31PM (#8174325)
I just don't get it, I guess.
Re:Game of Hacks on Monday August 04, 2014 @07:58PM (#8134773)
I like the idea. I feel like a few seconds are spent trying to figure out what language it's in, but maybe I'm just a dummy.

Re:You know nothing about code on Wednesday July 30, 2014 @07:35PM (#8111604)
This post is spot on. When I was a kid, I got my start when my dad wanted me to sell some stuff in the garage on this new site his buddy's son was using called eBay. I remember looking at all the other posts and wondering how they made the text different colors and put borders on things and found this world called HTML. I still have the notebook I used to write down all the cool things you could do with the various tags. Those were the days of not knowing what I didn't know. Now I definitely know what I don't know, and it's pretty terrifying and exhilarating.
Re:Friends don't let friends use loops on Wednesday July 30, 2014 @07:26PM (#8111566)
Misleading title? Loops can be really efficient and beneficial, just maybe not in this very specific circumstance. I clicked on the article thinking it was a new programming trick on how to avoid loops to do the same work loops do.

SPOILER ALERT: it's not.

anyone else getting scrollbars distorting the page size when hovering over the "advance" arrow on the right side?
easy integration is cool, obviously, but 2.9% + .30 is the same price as paypal. businesses ultimately don't care about how easy it is to integrate but how much it costs.

and stop signs and traffic lights and people crossing the street whenever they damn well feel like it
Re:Electric life forms that live on energy on Friday July 18, 2014 @07:47PM (#8056145)
this is my favorite quote from this book. thank you for reminding me.

I'm offended it was assumed the commenter was human.
Re:Lazy Loading Assets on Thursday July 10, 2014 @02:33PM (#8016344)
let's be clear: i'm not advocating lazy-loading assets like jquery or your main app codebase. I'm talking about your ancillary files that may not get used on every visit, especially if your site is a single-page app.
Re:Lazy Loading Assets on Thursday July 10, 2014 @01:43PM (#8016013)
That may work for a high-traffic site like Google, but what about sites that aren't in the Alexa top 10 (or even 1000)? ;)
