On my Win11 machine I run my dev in a VMWare 17. VM name was setup years ago as Win11_dev. I run my Claude inside. This morning my muscle memory couldn't find my machine - it was renamed to claude?! How is this possible? I'm baffled.
I programmed data export to some xml over a couple of days. Sending xml results via email to an accounting firm for verification. A day after I finished my disk crashed and I lost all my code.
Fed Claude with xml from my mail and... oh shit! ... got "my" code back. (And immediately paid for Claude subscription) :-)
When I moved out from my parents I took a box with aprox 100 floppies. I was pleasently surprised when only 2 were unreadeable all others were ok.
The other box with CDs had a much higher "fault rate". Go figure.

I'm doing it for 20yrs (currently with mail-in-a-box) and only wish more people were doing it.

Just made a landing page and then transfered its style to the app using Claude AI. Was so impressed that I paid for a supscription immediately.
Will polish the app and plan to launch next month.

100%! I was using Teamviewer but got frustrated by their licencing. RustDesk is excellent, works on mobile too. No affiliation just a happy user...
You gave up too early! I host my own server on a 5$ DO droplet. Have >100 clients, RustDesk never failed me once. Works like a charm.
This is what I try to follow - serving html with prefetch data from the server, what could be done on client I do on client to minimize server round trips, minimum css (responsive layout) and vanilla js. Separate web pages as needed.
Somehow that sounds weird and oldfashioned with my colleagues since I'm using only html, css and vanilla js? I don't miss a thing...

For my users having a PWA is completely irrelevant. Once they add it to home screen it's an app for them (I don't even bother to explain anymore).
It might be a discoverability issue since they can't find you in app stores though.

Nice setup, congrats! The part of verifying backups via dev resonates with me. Only I'm doing it manualy from time to time. Do you mind sharing your scrips? I'd love to "upgrade" my backups for my mssql.
