I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, so I just give it a try. Here's the context:I just finished building my website to sell my software. Then I realized I had a big problem: I have no idea what's happening on my site, where people are visiting from, how they interact, etc.I've used Shopify a lot, and I'm addicted to the Shopify live view. I check it almost every hour when I open my...

Show HN: InpaintKit – A plugin let you use latest AI models in Photoshop

https://inpaintkit.com/

Recently, many people have been building new tools around the latest AI image editing models like Google Nano Banana and Seedream 4, mostly for use on the web.Personally, I still prefer working in my familiar environment, Photoshop. So I decided to write a plugin that lets me use these models directly inside Photoshop, following a workflow similar to "Generate Fill."I've been using it with my...

Re:Running One-man SaaS for 9 Years on Tuesday July 30, 2024 @02:12AM (#41106460)
The key is putting your SaaS in front of people who need it. Here are something I did: - Find a group that your potential customers there (on Reddit, Facebook,) ... post your work there. - Create content on IG/Tiktok/Facebook/... - Final is using paid ads FB ads/Google Ads/...

They call these works are "marketing".

2 weeks and $500. Everyday is around $35. Based on my experience, it is quite a reasonable number.

Congratz Tony! He has been very good at creating products for years. Since he was a student. The way he studied, the way he worked, just so different from the rest of us.

It feels so good that your story in the front page of HN. 45k is not a big number for HN crowd, but it is a fortune here in my country.

Keep going my friend!

P/s: I am his classmate at the university.

Thank you for the post!

Wow! The Heztner price is too good to be true. I need to make a migration to it

Re:Welcome to Rails Cheat Sheet on Saturday May 13, 2023 @11:51AM (#35929548)
I had exactly the same problem. Recently, with the help of ChatGPT (just free version). When I didnt know anything, I just asked. The result was pretty good.

I also wrote stupid code first in my own version, and copied + pasted to chatGPT, asked it to improve it, or rewrite in ruby on rails style. And wow!! The rewrote version even went with explanation.

Beside that, you can use Rails console to test.

Old reddit has less bugs too. First time, using reddit, I used the new version. But my internet connection was too bad, this caused a lot of problems with the new version.

When I knew about the old version, I tried. And wow, almost every bugs I had with the new one went away. Faster load too.

At first, I thought it was a python framework from making desktop UI. As I remember, there is a python framework with almost similar name.

Congratz on the first stable version!

P/s: as I am getting older, I am just too tired for new frontend stuffs.

Re:Market Annealing: Getting to $10M ARR in Early Markets on Thursday January 12, 2023 @10:03PM (#34363491)

I closed that company and start a new one. Luckily, things are better now. Dont outsource sale, someone need to do that. That is a hard lession

I have the same thought. Bootstrap is still my favorite choice.

So what do we pay for except computing power?

Ease of scale? Ease of development cost? Or other marketing material?

Re:Ask HN: Solo Dev Stack of 2022? on Saturday October 01, 2022 @10:58AM (#33047073)
This is what I am using right now. It is quick for prototype. Saved a lot of time.

I dont really like the Admin panel. It has performance issues when we have more than 100k rows of data (due to the limitation of Administrate). We had to customize it to make it run normally.

Admin panel gems in Rails world have bad UI with a lot of problems.

Re:Ask HN: What book have you re-read 3x or more? on Sunday September 04, 2022 @10:30AM (#32713447)
“Ready, Fire, Aim: Zero to $100 Million in No Time Flat”

This book helped me a lot, to know what need to prioritize for my business

Just checked it, it’s very fast. Will the speed still the same if the network bigger?
I am not sure accepting crypto is a good idea in my case, since my customers are low tech. They dont know much about these things.

Last time, when I made a transaction on ETH, it took me 10 mins for wait nodes to confirm and costed me about 20$ of transaction fee.

How about the speed of Bitcoin network now? Just curious.

Thank you. Let me check it
Thank you! Let me check it

Ask HN: How do you collect payment as Startup from Stripe none support country?

I wanted to use Stripe to collect payment. But I'm a founder from Stripe's none support countries.I see there is an option Stripe Atlas. I'm a little hesitate about this option. I totally understand the cost, set up fee and yearly fee. But is there any other hidden fee after this? Like taxes? ...I did research and saw a few posts tell that, it costed them about 10k/year (When using Stripe +...

Klaviyo or Mailchimp? They are both easy to work with. But a little bit pricey. With that amount of emails, I think it would be around 150$/month.

You can save a lot of time with email delivery issues.

Re:Ask HN: How did you increase your UX skills? on Wednesday July 20, 2022 @12:31PM (#32168211)
You dont have to read a lot of books about this topic.

In my exp, I tried a lot of software, then remember what make me happy when using.

Apply these designs in practice. Watch other people using, and improve. Then do the loop.

Then if you have time, read books later. Practice make more sense.

Re:Startups, this is how design works (2012) on Tuesday July 05, 2022 @12:42PM (#31990515)
Sorry, but the design for reading on this site is just too bad. I hate it. Why dont you keep it simple?

Really? Is this how design works?
