A projector can cover a large chunk of wall. The potato resolution emphasizes other aspects of the medium: motion and cinematography, dialogue and other audio. When the display is dull, other senses compensate.

Sovereign countries should self-host, sure. How to pay for it?

Compiled code could have various annotations that generate a smart contract, such that a SECFIX triggers terms & conditions for funding and resolution by escrow.

Both parties have to go through agentic workflows; it's not scalable when stuff isn't cleanly resolved.

Re:The Music of Politics on Tuesday November 03, 2026 @02:23AM (#50349066)
More like the politics of music. Was expecting the music of politics to be rhythm, frequency, and tempo of traditionally non-musical elements as symbolism, like

The chosen venue of a speech, the history as context.

The cadence of an adhoc aside at a rally versus the teleprompted, formal utterance.

The jabs and hooks of a debate, accompanied by the truth or falsehood of the preparatory work beforehand.

Re:Quantity vs. quality in pottery is a lie – LessWrong on Tuesday November 03, 2026 @02:08AM (#50348986)
Bummer. Doesn't mean some pottery teacher somewhere tried it for real.

A couple other ideas in the vein of getting better with consistent practice:

The "1% better every day," where small habits make overall gains. (Then again, maybe scope it better: https://durmonski.com/self-improvement/1-better-every-day/)

The Marginal Advantage (2007): maintaining the lead in a non-greedy way.

It feels like even with compatibilities available across distros, a personal bin/ of shell-script sanity checks is the only way to true weirdness with reality.
Re:A new take on the Fermi paradox on Tuesday November 03, 2026 @01:43AM (#50348828)
If we're inside a black hole, even if we turn everything into compute, there's not enough to figure how to leave.
Applications: implications, simulations, and experiments. Gobble the frontier; wring out the usable.

Kepner-Tregoe is mentioned at the end, unifying a system of business analysis with software development.

HTTP/3 ready, but does hurl support assertions on gRPC bidirectional streams?
Against human players, they could allow sentiment analysis on the metagame, browsing forums, dissecting previous replays, and analyzing "strategic drift," even so past patch notes and such.

If proofs are tropes, explanations are stories. There won't be an end to stories.
