In Windows 10 (Version: 1909, OS build: 18363.1316), listed under 'Quick access' is this 'Scans' directory created by Windows. Once inside, clicking on the address bar shows this string:'C:\Users\Username\Pictures\Microsoft.WindowsScan_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App\Scans'
Mine too, I even have a few Flash (.fla) project files (games) here coming through an array of backups
"This blog requires JavaScript for anything besides reading."
I knew I was in good hands ;)
I went there with JS disabled and was very confused–it just showed a list of links. Not pleasant.
Edit: With JS enabled, the design just amazed me
I agree, this is probably because we never 'speak' (although write) in programming languages trying to convey something. This goes same for 'hearing' (although we read and understand, hopefully). We always use human languages for those purposes, well, except for those times we speak in pseudo-code.
Don't be too quick to take it at face value. It's hard to write down what is actually in one's head, even for experienced writers. I'm sure he'll tell you a lot more on the stuff he claims he doesn't know if you had the good fortune of having a chat with him in person. Also, keep in mind that he probably knows deeply about some things and their extents, and so his definition of words like 'fuzzy' should be different from that of an intern's. As he puts it himself,
> Experienced developers have valuable expertise despite knowledge gaps
contributes heavily to
> learning technologies when I need them
which can be very valuable.
But it's not that simple. There are many things like social dynamics at play whenever people interact with one another, and the one with most charisma is going to be a leader without a title–and that can be good too.
And companies who dare asking your consent to collect, retain, and share (with 3rd parties they like) everything about you from your teams chat to gene data.
Big G tracks you–we are different

Hi, you should hide elements with CSS instead of with JS, following is visible on visiting the page with JS disabled.
"A confirmation link has been sent to your email. If you register and confirm your email, you can skip this step."
How about a browser that has cookies etc. as different modules detachable/attachable from/to the actual _browsing session/s_, and an option to attach/detach them on the fly. I think I would get used to the overhead work involved when browsing, just like I got used to NoScript.

IMHO, entries like this are misleading for a beginner (a bad apple in the basket)
Very true, and I agree there are programs to retrieve browser passwords [1]. Does this mean there is built-in code in Firefox which sniffs for browser-stored password files inside home directory of a user? I don't see any other way how Firefox knew that I had the logins saved in Chromium for the particular site I mentioned.

While I was logged into an AWS Educate account in a portable Chromium instance, I just opened Firefox (also a portable instance) and was asked to import the logins from Chromium 'for this specific site'. How does Firefox know I've saved logins for this particular website in another Browser?Default browser is Edge, which I only use for 127.0.0.1:/ and pdfs (just to clarify things a little)
Maybe it's meant as an idiom to mention a deviation from what is available in 'science' as a domain?
"we dropped my brother-and-law off"
This made me want to read the rest of your comment ;)
Hope you meant __brother-in-law__ though
In the midst of Covid-19 isolation, meeting with less distractions, I too had thoughts on theses lines. It almost came as a revelation. Keep creating, everyone's a creative force. But create value, not nonsensical stuff. Kudos for the author of this article.
If I may, RWE's 'Self-Reliance' too mentions something on these lines.
... we have overdeveloped the material aspects of existence at the expense of the deeper emotional and spiritual aspects, and we are paying the price for that error.

At the end of the day, whatever shell best suits you basically boils down to usage, habits and how much willing you are to tweak it.
