Re:Weight loss jabs: What happens when you stop taking them on Sunday December 21, 2025 @07:19PM (#46350026)
It takes time and discipline to make the stomach smaller

I was pre-diabetic at 100kg and went down to 70kg over a year of low carb diet and intermittent fasting

It’s a daily struggle trying to NOT eat until literally feeling pain in the belly, and even then, I know if I wait 30 minutes more I can keep eating

Particularly eating a lot of eggs daily for about 3 years

What works for me is to eat highly nutritious low-glycemic food until I feel full (eggs, avocado, quinoa, etc)

Otherwise I over eat crap and gain weight easily

People want inspiration rather than off-the-shelf prompts

I’m hired to solve business problems with technology, not to self-improve or get on my high horse because I hand-wrote a silly abstraction layer for the n-th time

Regular coding gyms and problem solving drills

As humans we have developed tools to ease our physical needs (we don’t need to run, walk or lift things) and now we have a tool that thinks and solve problems for us

Many have the attitude of finding one edge case that it doesn’t work well and dismiss AI as useful tool

I’m an early adopter and nowadays all I do is to co-write context documents so that my assistant can generate the code I need

AI gives you an approximated answer, it depends on you how to steer it to a good enough answer and this takes time and learning curve … and evolves really fast

Some people are just not good at constantly learning things

Credentials are tied to the service principal of the user

It’s straightforward for cloud services

Depends the agent, they can read in chunks (i.e.: 500 lines at a time)
I prefer to provide CLIs to my agent

I find it powerful how it can leverage and self-discover the best way to use a CLI and its parameters to achieve its goals

It feels more powerful than providing pre-defined set functions as MCP that will have less flexibility as a CLI

High quality code is a thing from the past

What matters is high quality specifications including test cases

AI will have similar effect in general population

No significant effect except in the minority who have the drive and capabilities to leverage new technology to achieve their goals

There is always a bias on the effects of new technology because the early adopters are already highly capable people

Re:What Killed Perl? on Wednesday November 19, 2025 @04:59PM (#45985883)
I know companies with a big Python 2 stack that rather preferred to rewrite in typescript than migrate to Python 3

I turned down one of those companies because I didn’t want to deal with that migration in 2021

Ask HN: How do AI labs setup their infrastructure to train large models?

At my company I have to do this task, and so far I have seen slurm-based cluster setup (v100s or h100s), some fast distributed file system, Docker for containers and PyTorch with DDP strategy. But I read somewhere kubernetes can also be used. And their singularity as Docker alternative.Where can I learn more about this?
