Pretty sure you’re thinking of the NHTSA.
> The gamble is the long term side effects won't bring up their expiration date sooner.

That is not true. People routinely do things that are likely to shorten their life because they decide the upside is worth it.

I’m fairly new to paragliding. What happened? Have you returned to flying?

Anyone can request their residence be blurred on Street View. I did it myself about six years ago.
>Even Fable hallucinates

It’s in the name :)

In this case it was a warrant, and the Supreme Court’s ruling does not hold that the warrant violated the fourth amendment.

Edit: looks like I misunderstood what you were referring to by “this case”

There also isn’t a spa yet.
Minor note: when discussing electricity, abbreviating datacenter as “DC” is confusing
Re:Ask HN: What are your digital end-of-life plans? on Tuesday June 02, 2026 @12:26PM (#48372413)
What I’ve done:

All of my passwords and passkeys are in Bitwarden. My brother has emergency access, and I’ve documented in Bitwarden Secure Notes my device credentials, recovery codes, estate information, and instructions for accessing my accounts.

One unresolved issue:

I have private photos of current romantic partners in my iOS Photos hidden album. I want my next of kin to be able to access the rest of my digital life, but I also want to protect those people’s privacy.

As far as I know, Apple doesn’t provide a way to grant next-of-kin access to an account while excluding hidden photos.

My current solution is a note asking my brother to delete the hidden photos before looking through the rest of my account. I trust him to do that, but I’d prefer a technical solution.

Is there a better approach?

Ask HN: What are your digital end-of-life plans?

My biggest digital end-of-life concern is ensuring that my next of kin can access all of my accounts, devices, and important information.I’ve set up emergency access to my password manager and documented my device credentials, account recovery information, and estate-related information.I’m curious what others have done.Have you made plans for account access, passwords, 2FA devices, photos,...

If a company has a specific knowledge advantage regarding the design or manufacture of turbine blades, wouldn’t they patent it?

> it's currently difficult to get them prescribed by a legitimate doctor unless your obesity-related health problems are really severe

I think it’s more accurate to say that it’s difficult to get them covered by insurance unless your obesity-related health problems are really severe. In my experience, doctors have no problem prescribing GLP-1 drugs for weight management.

> The threat of a Chinese moon landing

Maybe I’m naive, but what is the threat here?

> If it was canceled outright it would be much harder to react to any Chinese success

I feel like the appropriate reaction would be to congratulate China.

> The entire point of a dating site is to find somebody to leave that site with.

Many people on dating apps are not looking for exclusive or long-term relationships.

> In fact, you'll probably not find a billionaire with kids at any daycare

I grew up with the children of a multi-billionaire. His kids went to the same daycare as I did, and it wasn’t particularly fancy.

Some ultra-wealthy people live fairly normal-looking lives.

> if you want to see a rain forest or a thousand year old Buddhist temple or a pyramid, there's not really a substitute in the continental US

Minor nitpick, but there are temperate rain forests in the continental United States. What we don’t have are tropical rain forests.

Because it makes for a more eye-catching headline.
I’m sure there are countless examples to the contrary, but I recently submitted feedback regarding an issue that I was experiencing in Final Cut Pro. Within a week, a member of the Final Cut Pro team contacted me and asked for a copy of my video editing files so they could replicate the issue. I sent them the files, they confirmed the issue, and the issue was fixed in the next release.

I was very pleasantly surprised.

Okay, I’ll ask. Details?

> it became clear that the journal's editor was too embarrassed

How sad. Admitting and correcting a mistake may feel difficult, but it makes you credible.

As a reader, I would have much greater trust in a journal that solicited criticism and readily published corrections and retractions when warranted.

In Hollywood, that line gets crossed at a surprisingly low level. I am friends with Josh Sussman, who played Jacob Ben Israel on Glee. I occasionally visit him in LA, and we can’t go anywhere in public without getting constantly stopped by people wanting photos. It’s exhausting.

> European countries are notable for using commercial hulls standards for these ships

Is that a problem? Why would navy ships need a different hull construction?

I just changed my ChatGPT personality setting to “Efficient.” It still starts every response with “Yeah, definitely! Let’s talk about that!” — or something similarly inefficient.

So annoying.

I used to be a full-time YouTuber, and I was very successful. For my channels, the revenue estimates on Socialblade were accurate. Reality for me tended toward their high estimate.

Re:2,400 HP FDNY Super Pumper could extinguish hell itself on Tuesday November 04, 2025 @01:10PM (#45814049)
The Plaid can only output its maximum power at 100% state-of-charge (or close to it).

As state-of-charge decreases, so does the overall battery pack voltage. Since the motors can only pull some peak number of amps, doing so at lower pack voltage will always deliver less total power.

I own a Model S Plaid and I used to pay close attention to the OBD-II data, out of curiosity.

I suggest you practice writing more concisely.

The comment you replied to said that “…there's a lot here, and I think the product needs a much clearer story. The copy on the site is long and rambling and needs a lot of tightening up.”

In response, you wrote more text than I am willing to read — even though I was interested in your answer.
