Ask HN: What happen after Product-Market Fit?

Hi HNers,I am the founder of LiNote and we have reached Product-Market Fit. Up to that point, everytime I felt lost about the next step for my company, I found some valuable resources online from smart folks who have been there before. The ones from YC often being the most insightful. Now than we reached PMF, resources are almost non-existent. I found two good books ("the great ceo within" and...

I really like the idea but the website provide almost no details about your solution. No idea also if you provide a free trial.

LiNote | Senior dev Django / React | 100% Remote | Full-Time

We are a bootstrapped company building oversimplified tablets for old people who can't use a smartphone or a standard device.

Our stack: Python / Django / Android / React Native / Postgresql / Rabbitmq / Angular

We are looking for a senior dev.

Interested, please reach out to anthony [at] linote.fr

linote.fr

I have been building a device for another vertical, really old people, with a lot of similarities ( subscription base, come with a stand, used to be a samsung Galaxy tab A,webrtc video calls, etc.), its called LiNote https://linote.fr (website on french only)

Happy to talk if that might help, email me at anthony at linote dot fr.

I've asked the question to YC people before. There is no remote possibility. You are supposed to flight back and forth often.
Do you really need cofounders ? Can you start already and find someone later on ? I am a single founder and I spent a lots of time, money and energy because I had to find a cofounder because It s what successful startups do. I might not be successful yet :) but I have a profitable startup and I am still a single founder
As far as I understand, reaching PMF is the exception. But the PMF definition is so weak and inconsistant than people think they have when they dont or the other way around ( I tried to answer this question for my own company for weeks and I am still not sure )

Then scaling with PMF is okish. Scaling without is complicated as things doesnt stack up

You talk to people. Friends or friends of friends. No formal research. Then you try to reach similar people and learn more on the go. It takes time but if you succeed you both know your customers and a way to reach them
Re:Ask HN: Why shouldn't I shut down my business? on Sunday January 26, 2020 @12:58AM (#22150616)
Hi Ben, kudos for building something you believe in.

My first impression is you have to talk to customers more and use face to face interviews. There is already a market for this kind of product so the issue might be: - bad targeting. Are you sure you talk to the right people? Who buy this kind of product ? Is the same people buying the product than the one using it ? - low reach. Conversions can be rare. Have you reached enough people ? - messaging. Do people really value your differenciation ? Do they understand your message? - price. Is it too expansive ? Not expansive enough to be credible - bad channel. How does the other company sell their product ? B2B sales ?

It seems to be you rely extensively on digital marketing to "talk" with prospects. Most of the time, one face to face can bring 10 times more info quickly.

I would also suggest to read the "Test Mom". You may have done customers interview the wrong way

I hope this help and wish you good luck

Thx for the suggestion. I will check with that.

Ask HN: Need help to figure out if we have product-market fit or not?

I am Anthony, solo french founder of LiNote. We build a digital assistant for family caregivers.I am really confused if we do have or not reached product market fit.Things that makes me thing we do have it: - 360 People love our product and pay monthly. - Our monthly churn is around 3% - Oldest customers have the product for more than 30 months. - Customers talk about it with their GP, nurses,...

Re:Ask HN: Have you found success and a good work life balance? on Saturday January 04, 2020 @05:12AM (#21954026)
None. I am technical startup founder.

My company just got break even so I live with the minimum wage possible but it's growing at a good pace.

Work life balance is both great and terrible. I work with my girlfriend. Our life is really flexible but we have customers calls every day. No days without a single call for the last 2 years. But I love what I do.

Re:Ask HN: How do you handle billing for your SaaS product? on Saturday January 04, 2020 @03:14AM (#21953631)
I use GoCardless for collecting payments. Airtable and a python script for billing.

Ask HN: How do you find startup mentors from outside your network ?

Hi HNers,I am a solo startup founder from a small french town. There is no unicorns here so noone has a real experience on being part of this kind of companies. Most mentors here either built profitable SMEs, managed big companies they haven't founded or are people with an MBA.Most advises I get are contradictory to what I read from more "reputable" startup writer as PG.Any idea how to get a...

Ask HN: Where to look for a hardware startup mentor?

Hi Hners,I work on a French hardware startup called Relink. I would like to speed things up and I feel having a mentor would be a great boost. I am part of my local startup community but that's quite small here as I am not in Paris and nobody has a 'successful' hardware startup. Anyone know how to find someone willing to be part of an advisory board?

Ask HN: Anyone to coach me as a startup creator?

Hi Hners,I've been working on many startup ideas full-time for 14 months now. I've learned a lot during the process, I failed a lot too. I am now working on a great idea (all of them was but this one is greater ;) ) and I would really like to make that one a success. This one deserve it as it would really help people. The idea is about creating a passive internet (no input required) so people...

Re:Extracting Tables from PDFs in Javascript with PDF.js on Saturday September 21, 2013 @12:20PM (#6423416)
you can also use pdf2html with the option -x (to get xml). You would also have the position of each text tokens.
Re:Ask HN: What is the stupidest startup idea you ever had/heard? on Thursday September 12, 2013 @11:39AM (#6374700)
I've got a couple of stupid ideas. mine: http://www.stamplin.com - extract text from PDF, mine again: http://signup.mealthy.com - eat better

and lot's of other ones.

An idea is always stupid. Few iteration later, it starts to be not that bad.
