This week I learned the term AGI. I found a video online speculating why Sam Altman may be looking to raise trillions $.If AGI is really achieved, what do you think would happen next. How would the stock market react, winners, losers? What would happen with the value of money and human society in general.Interesting to hear what people think, it can't be all doom and gloom. How would we control...
I love the simple design, I feel this may be what I'm after, will give it a shot! Thank you!

Requirements:
- Write software engineering blogs with markdown
- Open IDE, write some thoughts, push new version of the blog from my terminal
- Be able to host on github for free
- Be able to display code with syntax (I guess if it supports markdown it will support that too?)
- Maintain structure e.g. post dates, navigation, post tags
- Ability to have a page about meBonus points
- be able to...
I love the simplicity of the blog layout - is this open source I'd love to setup my blog to look similar!
Have a look at bigger more established institutions. There are still some out there who have programs to re-skill people (especially from STEM degrees) into engineering. Mostly financial institutions.
What they usually do is hire you at a grad level, and put you in a bootcamp for couple of months.
startup needed to pivot after 6 months, back to job market, no hard feelings though as I understood the risks before joining

For people who lived through 2007-2008 do you think the current times feel similar to how the last financial crisis unfolded?
“The world we operate in has changed”
Ugh another leader with their "resource allocation".
I think it's way to early to state these conclusions.
Why are the majority of these layoffs around the 10% mark?
no we are getting layoff, anyone who thought they were to be promoted is oppressed to feel "lucky" if they don't get redundancy.

I haven't used my Alexa for ages, decided to turn it on to play a bunch of Abba songs this yesterday.1) It won't play only Abba songs as I asked her, it's throwing other "similar" songs in the mix.
2) when I ask her to play next song it started telling my I can only skip 6 songs, like WTF.Guess who's cancelling their Prime Sub, good way to force me to save money I guess. Thank you Jeff.P.S....
we had a layoff in my company announced today (UK based), it will be weeks before I know if I'm impacted
If I decided to jump ship now and join a financial company in which I can guarantee quick offer due to networking I feel I'm risking exactly that.
It feels like a wave, if you jump to another industry you may risk to catch the wave when it comes. Specifically financial seems to just start now?
I really like to know what software is used to create this blog post, the navigation is so good.

I'm wondering if there is a free API that I can use to figure out when planes are flying around my home and give me some metadata like plane type, destination, altitude, speed etc. I guess I could come up with some scraper for flightradar24, but I was wondering of there is a proper free API that can do that for me?

I'm a software engineer looking for a side hustle as a solo. I'm considering buying a project from Flippa or similar platform, which has some traction already. My budget will be <$2500. Preferable SaaS or App.Has anyone here been able to buy side project like this and grow it successfully? Would you be able to share some tips on what to watch out for. What was your story?
I guess we have to wait for the full list. There was a map with names from other countries than the 56ish shortlisted.
So where do we find the list of names by country?
Hey first of all thank you so much for spending the time to answer this.
Some things to clarify, which are not clear from my question.
I'm not trying to push her into programming, but rather trying to understand what a some of the possible career paths for someone with PhD&Masters degree in this area that would also have decent pay.
I see how demotivation for someone who spent so many years and obtained multiple degrees would be to see their pay being 1/2 or less compared to bachelors in CS.
So my initial, gut feeling if you will, was that that with the possibility of Genomic technology sector being the next "tech", highly paid sector - then having someone with PhD in the science part and also some programming knowledge could put her in a good career trajectory.
Of course I may be wrong, so I wanted to explore if someone with similar background pivoted into programming and how that went.

Hi there! My girlfriend is entering her final year of her PhD program which is specifically doing lab research around Cardiovascular Sciences. She isn't very sure what to do next, but having a look at one of the possibilities - being lab technician seems like a waste of time when you look at the time invested in studies vs salary expectations. At the same time many people are seeing the Genomics...
It has to look professional for sure. But the UI won't have anything fancy, only some line charts and few forms.

I'm a backend engineer who has very limited experience with mobile engineering. I would like to build an app which is simple e.g. filling forms, showing charts, register/login etc. Basic presentation layer on top of backend API. I'm looking for the quickest way to build this, preferably hybrid app which can compile to iOS & android from the same codebase. What are my best options for...
