I know exactly how you feel. I don't know how many hours I sat in front of this debugger (https://www.jasik.com) poking around and trying to learn everything at a lower level. Now its so different.

Anyone know of any similar stories like this one? I don't know why, but I really enjoy reading these and hearing the thought process and decisions made.

It's time to stop spending on useless shit.
I wouldn't assume it's you... companies are terrible at planning and management. Keep plugging away - you will find a fit.
Re:Anyone working for Uber? horrendous CS experience on Friday December 08, 2023 @02:08PM (#38572855)
Have you tried deleting the app and reinstalling? Seems like an issue on the app side if CS says you are good to go from the backend billing.
The Notes app on iOS works perfectly for this so I would assume many iOS users are just using Notes. That is going to be hard to beat.
Agree 100%
I really hope that once people start seeing more AI generated images they get the urge to move back to natural photography. Maybe this will even inspire people to go retro and consider film. When I look at older photos taken with a camera and film I think about all the work it took to get that shot. The travel, the gear, the waiting for the right light. Brings a smile to my face.

Sorry. Never using PayPal... way to many horror stories.
You have the same company name as a deodorant company. https://lumedeodorant.com/
I don't work for Facebook/Meta... but get rid of the open floor plans, go back to real cubicles (the ones with the taller walls) and provide a decent cafeteria... I don't mind paying for my meals... and I would head back to the office.

Re:Ask HN: Any advice before starting my first real dev job? on Saturday February 11, 2023 @02:50PM (#34755661)
My simple advice... Your attitude is everything. Be open to learning and doing anything that needs to be done. Be a team player. Offer to help team mates. There is no time for that perfect solution. Always think big picture before digging into details. Find the one guy on the team that knows pretty much everything about the product/code and study his ways.
AT&T's websites are complete junk as well. Which you are forced to deal with for any kind of management.

Have you looked at render.com?
Can you point to an example? I would love to download one of these types of apps and give it a try.

Does esbuild support scss directly yet? I see on the site it mentions css. This is an important limitation for me.

Re:Java Is Underhyped on Friday April 16, 2021 @08:56AM (#26833288)
I think you work at the same company as me!
You know there are issues, so that is a good thing.

Hang tight. You can clearly learn to fix these issues and become better at building/architecting solutions. Spend some time reviewing projects on github and see how others have tackled the issues you are struggling with. Practice by creating your own projects. They don't need to be complete but will allow you to try different strategies for structure, hard coded values etc.

You could become a PM if you really wanted to... the PM's I work with have zero coding experience. This would be difficult for me as I don't see a PM as being creative and I like to build things.

You can do this!
