How do I configure emacs to automatically insert prototype functions from .h when opening the corresponding .cc file?. Could someone please show me how to write this marco? I have already asked on stackoverflow but no answer so far.
How did you submit the solution with a library? Doesn't upload mechanism assume only 1 file?
The OP said he knows graph theory, it should be trivial for him then.

What are some good ways to get work done using Emacs? Ideally I would like to minimize the code I actually write as much as possible. How do you make emacs automate your work?
just curious have you contributed to open source? If you have how did you get started with little experience?
That's pretty impressive are you currently contributing to open source? If so how did you get start? Right now I am trying to do OS but it's really hard to find a project to do.

What is the quickest way to contribute to OS? How did you contribute the first time? Do I have to wait until I get alot better to do it?
How do I go about understanding the internals of Fire fox or GNU emacs? Do I need to understand the entire thing to contribute? If not what should I do?
I want to focus on deliberate practice by choosing projects that is relevent to my weakness. Right now I want to master C. Do you know a good projects for this?
Right now my main interest is mastering C or C++. Do you know a good open source project I could get started with?
I am from Waterloo Canada.
Nothing wrong with documentation. I would do it just not the only thing I want to be doing. Do you know a good road map to make substantial contributions?
Realistically would any programmer want a novice to contribute other than documentation? Edit: I have already been doing the things you are saying (learning from everyone) but I feel I am not progressing fast enough.

Basically I am a programming novice and I am wondering if I can work with some great programmers. What is the best way to get such opportunity?
Do you feel the program is flawed since it only has 3 programming courses before an OS course? I think the major reason is that students don't do well is because of lack of practice.

The CS program in my University only offers three programming courses in first and second year before the operating system course. The first two courses are about scheme and c while the third one is C++. Now from what I know the majority of the students could only get an average of 60 in these courses not to mention an OS course. In addition, from looking at some of my friend's performance in...
How do you manage your assignments? Do you ever feel bogged down by them?
What other things do you think would be more useful and help in the long run?
Why did you hand in only 50% of the assignments? Were you saving time to do other things?
which school did you go to and what were the web apps?
jovekq(at)hotmail.com please reply to this comment when you want to communicate through email.
Here you done it? If you have could you be more detailed?
Its seem the comments here are all along the lines of pay attention, do assignments, take notes etc. But how do you keep up with the intensity of doing all this? Is it like weight lifting where at first it feels really uncomfortable, but once you get use to it, it's easy? Also, how do you avoid being bogged down by hard CS assignments (40 hours)? What would a 95% person do in this situation? For example, my cs friend who got 96 told me that he just doesn't sleep and he gets help when he needs it and also he tried to leverage off power of programming language or reusable code. Are there any other hacks?
What happens when you feel bogged down by assignments? Do you just hand in an incomplete or completely skip it? Could you break down your typical schedule for a week?
Did you find success with this approach? Is it enough to get 95%?
I have stated that marks are not everything. I am just curious on how a (high) moderately intelligent student could do it, because some exams are impossible to get 100%; it seems like hack to me.
could you be a little more specific about how you read entire textbooks cover-to-cover in the first day? Edit: Googling you up shows that you were a prodigy. Perhaps you knew everything already but just needed to review a little? Is that what you mean?

In every year there are always a certain percentage of students who manage to achieve really high marks on CS midterms and exams. How do you study for CS or math exams? I am sure there are many overachievers on HN. Could you please share how you did it? Do you need to have a really solid background before tackling a course or am I doing it wrong?P.S. I know marks are not everything but I am...
