Completely agree. It seems to be the application of the current "trendy tech" to industry.
Why is there such a difference? Surely each of those states with low murder rates have good and bad bits?
Re:Charts That Scare Wall Street on Friday October 28, 2016 @06:18AM (#12814520)
You can exclude coal and grain from the charts linked from your parent comment. There is still a significant drop.
If someone has an anxiety disorder of this magnitude then their diagnosing physician would provide the student with the paperwork required to delay their course.

This would be for however long is needed to seek the treatment to return to a stable enough level of mental health to return to university.

It is still a 7.9 billion Euro 'error rate'
I agree that homeownership is not the be all and end all for financial security and Switzerland is a great example.

I think the biggest concern is that many young people today will not enjoy the same standard of living as their parents in many categories such as job security, retirement prospects, child bearing, etc

Re:‘Rewilding’ process could soon return wolves to Scotland on Wednesday October 14, 2015 @03:42AM (#10385420)
Do you have a source for this?

Red deer have no natural predators just now and plenty of food - they will continue to increase in number.

You will also find that a lot of those that stalk deer are not "the gentry".

This is also a major problem in Europe with tuberculosis.

In some parts of London the infection rate is higher than Africa and resistance is found in over 10% of cases.

The cost of drug treatment for resistant TB is over £50,000 (not including the high staff costs for specialists, to track down everyone they have been in contact with etc)

Re:Latin Lives on Monday February 02, 2015 @05:59AM (#8983616)
I have a friend that is a historian. He was visiting a monastery in Macau to view some very old texts brought by the first Portuguese priests. They were under the care of a very old priest who spoke Cantonese and some Portuguese. My friend spoke Portuguese but they were not getting very far so he tried Latin. They conversed in Latin fluently for the rest of his time there.
Re:The future of jobs: The onrushing wave on Sunday December 28, 2014 @10:01AM (#8806387)
I think that this is a very important piece of the discussion. Improving the efficiency of a lot of workers and increasing automation does not marry up well with a constantly increasing world population.

Re:Tech giants to freeze eggs for their female employees on Wednesday October 15, 2014 @06:44AM (#8457842)
I am not sure about the exact success rates off the top of my head, but if I remember correctly it is roughly 50% chance per cycle.

Each cycle requires a group of eggs and only a certain percentage survive the freeze.

Re:To Gather Drug Information, a Health Startup Turns to Consumers on Wednesday September 24, 2014 @09:27AM (#8361272)
Congratulations on the launch.

I am not sure if some of the drug types are appropriate though.

Antibiotics for example. If someone was prescribed an antibiotic for an infection, read your site and decided to stop taking it after a few days to avoid a side effect while waiting for an appointment with their doctor to find a suitable replacement, then it may increase resistance. Worse, they might stop the treatment and not bother finding any alternative if they feel "better enough".

I agree that discussions on medications are good for the majority of cases but antibiotics should be considered firmly in the domain of the specialists who "should" take into account local resistance rates, etc.

Re:U.S. Aims to Curb Peril of Antibiotic Resistance on Friday September 19, 2014 @05:25PM (#8342577)
This sounds like a very positive step.

As concerned as I am about the new or novel infectious agents, such as ebola, the largest problem will come from common pathogens that are only treatable with the strongest of antibiotics (that often have more serious side effects).

This is a pretty good overview of how to extend Emacs for your own individual situation.
Is the correct answer not "the largest amount that the acquiring company will pay"?

I think that this is a question that is impossible to answer.

Re:Second-Chance Med School on Friday August 01, 2014 @07:25PM (#8123372)
Very good post and I agree. The job is stressful, the individual liability is extremely high and the sacrifice is not worth it for many. Often family expectations are involved.
