Good old British eccentricity!

On your last point, you can actually tell the months when I didn't collect a prescription.

I searched for the medicines I get from my GP and it turns out I'm the only one getting them. You can see the blips in the graph from zero when I got the prescriptions!

A huge number of people in the UK are on BT's cheapest package, you get a 38mb FTTC connection and a 20gb cap. These are the sort of people who won't even know that a feature like this could even exist, talk about be switched off! I think it's almost criminal that 20gb capped Internet can be advertised as being suitable for a family home in 2015.

http://www.wiffi.co.uk - The Scent of Connection

Scented Wi-Fi that lets you know if a connection is secure or not. If it smells bad, don't connect.

The best thing is... It's not an April Fools!

Can you remember the name of the company who tried it with high frequency acoustic signatures?

Nice idea! Ambiguity isn't something we have encountered so far during testing. It's something we are looking into though.

The plan is to eventually 'poison' the scent with a bad smell if there is somebody trying to spoof the hotspot or if the connection is compromised.

Hello - I would really appreciate feedback on my new startup. We are developing scented patches that inform a user that a WiFi connection is secure and legitimate. Thanks!

Ask HN: If WiFi had a smell, what would it be?

I'm currently working on a project that senses wifi and emits a scent to notify you of it's presence. In all your very professional opinions, what do you think wifi should smell like? My current thought is a combination of Ozone and Oranges. My hope is that the scent will eventually be used in public places to signify wifi for public use, where you can smell it - you can use it.
