Nope, I had found the university before but ignored it. Then was looking for cheap math degrees from the recent math books thread today, and came across this school again. Figured I'd post it, but I have no interest in attending there, as they don't have any programs I care about

> In my first semester at WGU I went through about 20 classes.

Woah, that sounds insane at first, but I'm assuming some of these might be like history 101? Could you elaborate on which program and which classes this was?

Re:MIT licence can be community hostile on Thursday June 11, 2020 @07:42PM (#23494394)
As a counterpoint, I generally prefer using MIT repos/libraries because cognitively I don't need to think or worry about how/when/where/underwhatconditions I can use the repo. I don't contribute as much as I could (due to my employer) but the little that I have and the few repos I've made have all been under MIT because I want to perpetuate this cognitive freedom for others.
Re:Self-Hosted Homelab Website on Wednesday June 10, 2020 @09:09PM (#23484186)
I've been putting off researching home network/backup devices, because I feel like it is a big decision that I don't know enough about. And they all tend to have bad reviews.

Is there a good guide to start researching that isn't a top-ten list with just affiliate links?

How did they get the genetic code of the specific dinosaur branch? I recall a previous discussion here that we have very little genetic source code from dinosaurs because it's degraded in the fossils over time

Estimate your tax obligation and pay the IRS before you lose it or spend it all: https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employe...

Then invest the remainder into an index fund or retirement fund. If you don't know where to start, then look here: https://investor.vanguard.com/mutual-funds/target-retirement...

Re:A Crash in the Dollar Is Coming on Tuesday June 09, 2020 @11:12AM (#23467335)
The article focuses on "savings", but much of the impactful forces were already in play. This article was discussed previously and had much more valuable insight: https://www.lynalden.com/global-dollar-short-squeeze/

Nit pick:

> Look no further than the Trump administration. Protectionist trade policies, withdrawal from the architectural pillars of globalization such as the Paris Agreement on Climate, Trans-Pacific Partnership, World Health Organization and traditional Atlantic alliances

TPP was the worst example to throw in there. It was a horrible proposal, that both parties hated, and both presidential candidates said they would withdraw from. Either the author was trying to just make it look worse, or had zero clue about the mulit-year TPP debate.

> images obtained from Soviet spy satellites

How did they obtain them? Were they not encrypted?

I wouldn't call this stealing? Maybe "catching"? I've been following a related subreddit on this topic that might be useful to the hackers here: https://www.reddit.com/r/RTLSDR/
Looks like the (sad) background story is here : https://medium.com/@huixiangvoice/the-hidden-story-behind-th...

Posting here instead of a new submission

The Pentagon is expected to plan for every eventuality. If they don't, they'll be blamed for not being prepared. The US had plans to invade British domains, such as Canada, between the two world wars (in which they were both allies)

That's an ancient demo, I guess I should have linked a modern implementation sorry. More info here : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Remote_Password_protoco...
> Dude what? I don't think anybody uses that. I've never heard of it before.

Ya, the first time I heard of it I had the same reaction, but it's legitimate.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Remote_Password_protoco... That page is quite old, but lots of bodies use it: http://srp.stanford.edu/links.html

Amazon uses it in a service: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/cognito/latest/developerguide/am...

Also, as another commenter said, Apple uses it in Homekit.
